OK well i have a BIG question....i know only about 2 of you many agree with me but i still need to ask this, i dont understand the whole bible thing, i mean its a book of stories that arent even proven to be true, there is no actually evidence of god or jesus doing all the stuff the bible says he did. no offense to anyone who believes in it, i just sont understand it, my take on it is that i think someone got bored and just decided to write a book on how the world started. virgin mary getting pregnant with a baby known as jesus? i think she was married or something and cheated and instead of coming clean she just pretened to screw with people cuz know had done it before so why not make it all up?
plus, i have noticed that most people who are either druggies or abuse women or something seem to be the ones always saying they believe in god and all that. i mean whenever someone's life turns to crappy they say god will make it better, i just dont understand it all, i dont mean to offend.

Freedom of religion also means freedom FROM religion.

Why make up the whole thing? There would be no point, right..just a bunch of hoopla. BUT, you have to ask yourself "where did all this natural stuff come from"?. Okay....let's not even go w/the bible. What about the sun, moon, stars, animals, trees, flowers blooming right on time, seasons. Do you think Darwin did all that? Over the whole entire Earth? He'd have to be bigger than the planet. Then someone wrote it all down. How can someone write about something unless they were there, or someone told them how the beginning came about? Have you even done any research to just throw the bible out the window....have you checked Jewish, Roman history? Yea.....Israel has a LOT to offer. I was speechless most of the time. It was eerie. There was no explanation, except spirituality.

The bible is comprised of 66 books by 40 different authors. Take the new testament. Matthew and John were written by Matthew and John, 2 of Jesus disciples. Both stories are very similar. Mark and Luke were written by two others who researched the stories of Jesus. Acts was written by the disciple John who not only saw but researched the "ACTS" of the disciles and was an eye witness to the giving of the Holy spirit and Jesus' resurection and accension to heaven. Romans, ephesian and most of the rest were letters written to the churches in those areas concerning issues that were going on.

Every book of the Bible has been proven authentic.

One BIG question on your theory though, (I don't mean to be rude or anything like that) but the Bible was not written by just one man. There are records that show that the Bible was written by many different authors over periods of hundreds of years. Just consider the fact that the Old Testament was written in Arameic and the New Testament was written in Greek. Also consider the fact that, just the writers of the first four books of the New testament were all written by four different authors, yet all coincide with each other. Consider also that over 100 prophecies of the Old Testament, written hundreds of years before, were fulfilled by Jesus during his whole life. Consider also that some of the writings were validated by many kingdoms, consider that the only reason that the Hittites where even discovered as the users of steel was because the Bible mentioned them, and after careful geological digs evidence was found of their existence. Study the books of the Bible and see that in them is a correlative influence, an almost sort of UNITY through all of them, even to the point that one is almost baffled by the fact that they were written by different people.

Sorry this answer is so long, but I just wanted to express my view of it, I have read the Bible well over a dozen times and I am able to see the unity of it. People may say what they want to say, they say that they believe in god, that's all well and good, but to actually say that you believe in the God of the Bible, the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, then those you won't hear very often. Like I said, there's no "proof" that he did what he did, but consider that even after he died, he was seeing by 500 people at one time, in one place, none of which were "drunk" or "high". Also think, that millions of Christians over the years have died, endured torture, and even given their lives for others, all because they believe that Christ was their Savior, and they would rather suffer than to deny their very own Creator.

A Roman Centurion, in charge of a hundred Roman soldiers, who was ordered to execute and torture 50 Christians tell his story. He sent the 50 Christian into the middle of a creek, to stand there in the freezing cold, with nothing on. The Christians starting chanting, " 50 Christians dying for Christ" A few hours passed and he went to them and told them that if any of them wanted to reject Christ, he could be free. None of them did. A few hours more of chanting and one lone fellow stepped out of the waters of the river. He rejected Christ, as he did so he was immediately given his clothes and freed. Meanwhile the Christians in the river still, starting their chanting again, this time saying " 49 Christians dying for Christ". A few minutes passed, and the Roman Centurion, no longer being able to contain himself, took off his clothes and headed towards the river. He joined the other Christians, and himself started chanting, " Still 50 Christians dying for Christ."

This is not how the story was actually written, I have paraphrased it but it is a true story, an account by a Roman soldier. Just to show how far people are willing to go because of their belief in Christ.

...Your question reminds me of a story. A letter was written by Abraham Lincoln that someone had a hard time understanding. His son did understand it, because he knew the author very well.
...If you want to understand the Bible, if you want it to make sense, you must get to know the author. You must trust Jesus Christ personally, and this will reconcile you to God, you'll be in a right relationship with Him - and then it will start to make sense to you, then the Holy Spirit will help you understand His Word.
...Acts 16:31 Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and be saved.
...In 1 Corinthians 2 we read,
"12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God,
13 which things we also speak, not in words taught by human wisdom, but in those taught by the Spirit, combining spiritual thoughts with spiritual words.
14 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.
...Without the Spirit of God helping you, you cannot understand the Scriptures.

You don't offend.

You are having precautions about spiritual things like anyone does who has been exposed to a lot of negativity about God.

If you truly want to find Him, you must do the seeking. He throws Himself at no one. If you want motivation to find Him, listen to this. You know that yearning and desire you've had in your heart since you were a little girl for the man who would know you inside and out and be totally in love with you because of exactly who you are? He would protect you and defend you...even die for you so you wouldn't have to...?

That hollow place that no one has been able to fill for you is God.
He created that need within you before you were born so you would seek Him.

Think about Jesus Christ hanging on the cross whispering your name. Think about His joy in His victory when God raised Him, victorious, from the dead. His joy was because He succeeded in securing a way for you to come to Him.

None of us deserve Him, but He did it anyway.

I expect people to start taking out their flame throwers and chase after you for phrasing the question like that. (Or they could just faint at the blasphemous thought)
but seriously, most religions 'holy text' are not written by the founders. They are reportedly written by the disciples but are most likely third hand accounts. Also given human beings tendencies to blow up events, a lot of the religion founders are deitified or become divine. Furthermore, as with the passing of time, more and more practices are incoperated into religion by the head honchos who does it for their own profit.
So christians aren't the only ones at fault

Well, Bible study was a part of literature course I studied in University. Hence, those professors don't recognize Bible as fact.

I myself would give Bible as much credit as I would give to Greek mythology. In my opinion, it's just another attempt to explain natural phenomenas before human learn more about science. One says "God is an image created out of man's insecurities" and I agree with it.

You must have a broken heart and a contrite spirit in order to return to God. If a person suffers from abuse or drug addiction and finds God, it is only because they were chosen to suffer. It was a life lesson sent down by God. You only have lack of faith because you yourself have not suffered enough. Don't worry if you ask God he will bless you with suffering. Only then will you understand. Only then can your fallen hope become flowing falls of hope for truth and understanding.

Do a web search on fulfilled Bible Prophecy and note the dates it was prophesied and the date it was fulfilled........not a book of stories when the prophecys are fulfilled with 100% accuracy.....might also want to do a search on the unfulfilled Bible prophecy and see what you can come up with.
