You can lose weight by not eating comfort foods, lowering your stress level and increasing your sleep. Even when you do get eight hours sleep it isn’t enough because you are working against your inner clock. I know of this as I worked shift work all my working life.
It is very hard to be disciplined with your schedule. Plus Kids! But you can do it if you just be good to your self and take it easy. One step at a time. Don't try to bite off more then you can chew. The choices you make are for the long hall. You can do it.
Start by giving up eating candy, cake or any junk food at work or at home. Completely give it up! No cereal. No bread. This alone will cause you to lose weight. If you eat fruit, eat it on an empty stomach when you wake up prior to eating anything else, wait 30 minutes then eat a protein meal to sustain you at work. Take a protein meal to work with you.
The important thing is that you give up sugars and starches. Increase proteins. If you like fish, unbreaded, like salmon, this is good for you. Omega 3's. Healthy. You have to be creative with what is tasty or you will get burned out. I like KFC Cold Slaw. So I will by cabbage at the store and purchase cold slaw from KFC and then add cabbage to it so it is not so bad for me. I get more of it and it lasts me for a couple of days. Grill some chicken, I'm good. Or I get chicken from El Pollo Loco. It is not breaded and it is tasty. They also have a great green salad. I cheat and eat the corn chips they put on the salad. No rice or beans.
If your kids have a weight problem then don't feel bad if you do not choose to bring home potato chips and cookies. Diet soda's make you crave sugar. Better to drink water. Lots of water. Bottled water is easier to drink. When you are loosing weight this is how the fat leaves the body is through urination.
Kids will perform better in school if they go to school after a protein meal. Cereal is a bad meal for a child to go to school on. They end up being tired after the carbs wear off, protein stays with you longer. That is why you should eat fruit first, wait for it to digest then eat protein. Fruit digests very quickly, 20 30 minutes on an empty stomach.
It will not hurt you to give up fruit for a while to lose weight. Fresh vegetables and healthy proteins will allow you to lose weight. Tomatoes are very good for you, detoxifying, broccoli, cabbage, brussel sprouts, string beans, the less starchier the vegetable the better. No corn or peas. Eggs, tuna, salmon, steak, good ground beef, pork, chicken and a little bit of bacon and sausage won’t kill you. But always the healthier the choice the better. Fish is the healthier choice. Omega 3’s. Raw vegetables are better then cooked. So when you cook them. Don’t cook them all the way. The harder it is for your body to break them down the better. Crunchy it good. No carbohydrates on the plate a little real butter is ok. Don’t eat margarine.
And finally, if you could fit into your schedule a walk on a treadmill of 20 minutes or a walk around the block every day or at least three times a week to start. Just a walk nothing stressful. This would be good for you.

Stay away from crash diets, your cravings go up once you are done with them and gain all the weight and more. Your best bet is a gradual weight lose program. Think about how long it took you gain that unwanted weight, well it will probably take just as long to get rid of it, unless you have time to exercise.
For starters eat less bread and more meat, poultry or seafood. And if you want to do it right, check out the Zone Diet, it helps you figure things out with food. It works great and it's easy. You just have to figure out what your needs are and work with the program. www.zonediet.com

Just eat normal diet and take enough proteins. Avoid fats and Junk Food and sweets. Drink a lot of fluids and above all dont be tense and take life positively. Take life coolly and relax every now and then when tired for a few minutes. Take deep breath if too tired. The key is " Be happy" and remember the good things that life has given you and be Thankful.
Best regards,
Keep it up.

You can still eat good. Eating 5 small meals raises your metabolism to burn fat all day long. Most people just switching to five small meals lose weight instantly.
