Being in NYC, you'd think it would be an advantage to meet people. But even though I try to go to new places and do different things, being in a big city makes me feel so lonely. What should I do?

It is possible to feel lonely anywhere, at any time. I find that some places just aren't friendly. I live in a city for four years that wasn't a very friendly place, and made no friends. I have been living in a different city since last January and have already made a lot of friends.
What can you do in NYC? I don't really know, but you might take up some activity that interests you, where you will be able to meet others. Or, you might move out west.

Yes it is possible to be lonely in the big city
it is also possible to be lonely where ever you may be
because if there is no -one around that you know
then its very hard. so you can do 1 of 2 things you can pack up and go home or stick it out until you meet some people you can be friends with

Remember that Jesus loves you and if Jesus is with you will never be lonely

Of course it's possible. You can feel lonely anywhere. Maybe try having drinks after work with some workmates? Work's an easy place to make new friends. On Friday night, say what a week it's been and ask if anybody else wants to go for a quick wind-down drink... Good luck.

I'm originally from NYC. I miss it SO much.

Get involved with community activities, church activities, etc...
Join a group or club of some sort where you can meet people.

Good luck!

Try moving to Detroit, near where I live, then see how long you get to complain about being lonely.
