A six month old can not entertain themselves all day, my 19 month old doesn't even do that. And a six month old needs to be held, not all day but for some of it. Not to mention that by your baby watching the other children she is learning about play, your childs care taker should know this!!! Find a new sitter!

At 61/2 months old he still needs alot of attention. His attention span is short.
Maybe put him on a blanket with some soft toys that are with in his reach. There are toys that he can lie under and try and grab the toys hanging. These things will amuse him for a little while then hes going to want to do something else ,like being held some too.

Find a new sitter. A six month old is not capable of entertaining himself all day! He needs people and stimulation.

My kids were clingy at this age and needed plenty of attention. This is a skill your child will learn as he gets a bit older.
