A very good program to do what you want to do is from a company called Sonic, and the program is called "MyDVD". You can read about it, and order it at the below link. Good luck.

try to use AVS Video Converter http://www.best-video-converter.com/avs-video-converter.html

The program is very simple.
- insall and run it
- open a file, click "To DVD"
- click "Convert Now"
- at the end of this process, the program will ask you to insert a blank dvd
- burn it

that's all

the program is very simple, do not think about codecs or dvd burn speed.

it supports virtually all video formats and have integrated DVD burning engine:
- Video: AVI, DivX, XviD (*.avi, *.divx, *.div), MPEG-4, H.264 (*.mp4, *.m4v), MPEG-1, MPEG-2 (*.mpeg, *.mpg, *.m1v, *.m2v, *.dat, *.mpe), DVD (*.ifo, *.vob, *.vro), DV AVI (*.avi, *.dv, *.dif), Quick Time (*.mov, *.qt), WMV, WMV-HD (*.wmv, *.asf), 3GPP, H.263 (*.3gp, *.3g2, *.3gpp, *.3gp2), Real Video (*.rm, *.rmvb), SWF (*.swf), DVR-MS (*.dvr-ms).
