16 year old girl skipping school every week,is being told she will be expelled after her birthday on Nov.6/06.Can the school legally do this or not,

I would encourage her parents to contact the principal and arrange a meeting to try keep their daughter in school.Perhaps they could draw up a contract with her and the school that she promises to attend school,if she skips she can expect suspension or expulsion. If your friend does not want to make a serious commitment towards her education the school cannot force her to learn.I hope she will consider this an investment in her future and take advantage of this opportunity.The parents could also contact the Durham school board regarding board policy on skipping.

Yes, she can be expelled. A school district can expell a student for blatant disregard of and failure to abide by the rules, which is what she's doing by skipping school.

Yes. A student can only have so many absences before he/she gets expelled and/or his/her parents will have to go to court against the school district. This is completely legal.

yes my friend got expelled for putting the teachers face on a wrestlers body and having that pic on his folder

No they have to have REASONABLE PROOF for an expulsion.
