Vibrations in air need something to interpret them as sound. Without that interpreter they remain vibrations in air.

No. What we call sound is what the brain makes of the vibrations it perceives. It is a interpretation of the mind like many others things which are not what we think they are. Think just for a moment about what we call reality, is it really so? When was the last time it was defined absolutely by anybody? well, i know W. think hi's done so. If this brave and illuminated era has defined reality, why do we have republicans and democrats? I believe the scope of this old question are not fully known by many paper geniuses out there.
