My daughter is 3 and right now we are going through a rough patch. I cannot afford to keep her in school so until I start working again I wanted to do some things with her to help keep her learning moving as well as keep her busy so she is not bored. Any suggestions?

These are some great websites that you can get ideas of things to do at home:

www.perpetualpreschool.com
www.everythingpreschool.com
www.atozkidsstuff.com
www.familyfun.go.com
www.preschoolprintables.com

Also check out your local library or bookstores for story times, then your daughter will have a chance to interact with kids her age and the best part is that it's free!

Go to a local playground/park. Go to your local library, check out books about animals (especially ones usually in zoos) Read all about the animals. Then take a trip to your local zoo and see how many animals she can identify and tell you about. Take her grocery shopping with you, read the ingredients on the packages teach her how to determine what is healthier. Teach her how to pick out the freshest produce and start teaching her about money, what is a good bargain etc. Most libraries have "story time" find out when your local library has it and take your daughter. Take her to lunch, get all dressed up (like going to a tea party) then take her to a local "sit down" restaurant like Denny's or International House of Pancakes and work on Manners. Go out in the yard and make mudpies, run through the sprinklers, build a "tent" by putting blankets/sheets over the kitchen table and crawling inside. If you life in the frozen North East, go outside with her and build a "snow fort". or at least make snow angels. In other words make the most of your time off until you get back to work and relearn how to play. Both you and your daughter will be building great memories...

There are a lot of educational games that she could play on the computer with your help. Coloring, Cutting with scissors, using glue, learning colors, numbers, letters. At my son's preschool their activities include all kinds of things such as raking leaves & playing in them, planting a tree, carving a pumpkin, etc. Many of the things that you do anyways are "educational" in ways you don't think of. She'll be fine & so will you!! ENJOY your time with her.
