My poor kitty Buttons went missing for 3 days. We found him about 40 feet up in a tree smack in the middle of pen with 3 German Shepherds. When we got the dogs away, he jumped and I took him home. He slept for a day and a half but jerked like he was having a bad dream the whole time. Will he be traumatized? And if we hadn't found him would he have died up there or gotten down eventually? Where did he go to the bathroom?

Hey there...he will be a little frightened for awhile, but overcome it soon. Just be sure that he's eating and drinking as well as having normal poo and pee too. Any changes must require a trip to the vet.

I don't believe he would have parished stuck up in the tree, but figured out how to get down even if it meant jumping which some cat's have done.

Here's a video of cat who was stuck in a tree for 8 days: http://youtube.com/watch?v=334Foeqhw5Y

He probably is having some bad dreams. I'm sure he is glad to be home safe and protected!! He will probably be fine, but it would be good if you let him out again to kinda go with him and see how he behaves. In the meantime give him lots of love!

Most likely he would have jumped at some point. The question is would he be so weak at that point that the dogs would have got him *shudder*. I'm just glad you found him! And I am hoping that he released his "stuff" right on those dogs! He would have jut gone as he needed too while he was in the tree. He wouldn't have liked it, and probably held onto it for awhile.

Hopefully he won't go near that pen again!!

Poor Buttons. I'll bet he's glad to be home. You can get a bottle of Rescus Remedy from a health foods store. It is for healing of shock, trauma, fear etc. It cannot harm him in any way and will help him get over his emotional trauma. You just shake the bottle really well and put three to four drops on the fur between his ears. Treat him three or four times a day right now and when he seems to be his old self you can stop.

Rescue Remedy is a good item to have in your veterinary medicine chest for any situation where a pet has been hurt or has had a terrifying experience. If there is a physical injury of course the animal must also go to the vet. The RR is strictly for emotional healing.

Well, yes there is a possiblily your cat experinced trama. But your cat might have been all over the place in those three days and was stuck in that tree for half an hour. And trust me, your cat went where ever he went. When cats gotta go, they go! And who knows if that cat could have died, hes alive now. Think positive!

The poor baby! I hope he went to the bathroom right on the faces of those barking dogs.

Keep your cat indoors. He will be much safer and happier there.
