I am a soldier, I am going to leave next year but I don't have any qualifications and only have year ten at school. I am smart I just never applied myself at school. Can I go to higher education without 11 and 12? Help me I don't want to be stuck in this life for to much longer.

Start your GED now so you can be finished with it before you separate from the military. While a professor, I am also a military wife and know that if you are stationed at a good sized military installation, there is probably an education office which can help you learn about the options that are available right there for you. Go talk to them and they can help you get started on your high school equivalency while you are busy considering what to do afterwards. You will probably want to consider community college (or a technical school) as a first step but there is no reason to rule out college as a step after that.

Did you apply for the GI Bill? That can really help once you are out. In the meantime, like others said, get your GED, and if you can, try your hand at a college class - might as well use as many benefits as you can. The most important thing is figure out what you want to do when you're out and work towards that. You may be able to transfer some of your military experience into college credits also. Some employers like to see a military background - don't worry too much!

You can get your GED. In fact the military should help you get your GED. Then you can go to college and use your GI Bill. If you can hang with the military for 10 years, college is a snap, but don't be intimidated.
