Being with someone that is different than you is exciting in the beginning, but gets old after awhile. Eventually you want someone who shares your hobbies and interests.

I want to share the same values and essentially believe the same as me. Everyone thinks differently, and I'm okay with that.
As far as interests, as long as a few are in common, I like it when the other person has interests of his own. Gives me a chance to see new things.

A couple should share common interests, but I don't want a clone of myself, either. I like the idea of having someone around who sees life differently than I do - it makes me look at everything with fresh eyes.

Well, I prefer not totally opposite of me. I prefer him to have some same interest as me, same religion, same having a close family concept, etc.

I like people who are similar to me in core values ie religion, politics, etc, but with different interests or different character attributes, just to keep it fresh and interesting. I tried dating someone exactly the same as me...wasn't my cup of tea.

I am a small town Texas girl. I met this guy who was in the military stationed in D.C. originally from Michigan. With me being a southern bell and him being from the North we bumped heads on alot of things. He was used to girls being independent and I of course being from the south wanted to be treated like a lady. Small things like holding the door open. But I dunno something about him being totally opposite from me attracted me to him. He wasn't like the guys in Texas I had always dated. He showed me so many things and taken me to places I never would've dreamed of seeing. Just riding on the subway in D.C. I was like omg! bcuz we don't have those in Texas but just the look in his eyes when he saw how excited I was ... just I dunno made it even better. We've been together a lil over three yrs and married for a yr. We still have different views on some things but we are still going strong.

personally i like guys that are different from me enough that it makes them interesting, but still think the same as me on some things so we don't clash about everything.
