John Kerry told a group of college students this week that people who don't study and do their homework were likely to "get stuck in Iraq."

I know when I was in high school, a good number of the kids who had done too poorly in high school to expect to have success elsewhere went into the military.

(To go even further, the Bush administrategery can laugh this off all they want, because they will never be able to figure out how the message should have been spelled.)
Members of the military in Iraq held up the following... "Halp us Jon Carry -- We R stuck hear n Irak."

That is a far cry from raising the US flag atop soil of Iwo Jima.

When a war means something, our troops respond accordingly. When a war is a joke, our troops respond with a joke... at least I hope their misspellings were meant in jest. Either way, Kerry was right.

89% of the people on vote.com thought he owed the American people and apology. I was emailed back by a Senator today, that Kerry did apologize and has decided to conclude his campaign and he is not running in the 2008 Primary. So you are certainly in the minority. I'm vote democratic. I was very upset that he didn't make a distinction between the powers at be, and the troops who are fighting so that we have the freedom of speech to be discussing this. Even his own party, seperated themselves from him. No matter how devoted I am, I think for myself. Most Americans were disappointed, to say the least. Ofcourse, the troops were dileberately misspelling their message. Some of the kids that went to school, who didn't do well, are selling drugs and carry guns, I wish that would be changed also. They just go in and out of jail. They are not fighting in the war to protect the U.S. No matter how I feel about the war, I will never say anything against the troops, I was terrified in a 21 story building on the day of 9/11. I couldn't work there anymore. I don't think any of this is funny. But if the troops want to say anything, they have certainly fought, and earned the right to!!!!!!!!

It is true that some people join the military to look for opportunities when they have few other options. Sometimes, that is because they don't have the economic means to go to college so they are looking to fund their academic aspirations through various programs in the military.

However, there are a great deal of people that are in the military because they want to serve and protect the nation and they have a sense of patriotism. Many are there because they want to be...not because they were stuck. For instance, Mayor Daley of Chicago has a son that joined the armed services last year. He certainly had other career options available to him.

I think that Kerry was wrong to generalize. His statement certainly implied that the unsuccessful in our society end up in war and that isn't the case. He was wrong.

But, who cares? His career is over with now, anyway.

First off I do not agree with it and I'll tell you why I went to college and I did my homework and made darn good grades. Then I realized last year why should I be paying to go to school with a lot of beer guzzling morons when I could be getting my college paid for and getting a resume builder in military. So I joined the Navy. Also just to let you know not everybody has a rich mommy and daddy to pay for them to go to college and the military is the best way I've found to pay for it.

Metatron, you and European are idiots, who have completely lost there grip on reality. And have no chance of being free, without the exertions of men better than you can ever hope to be. I can't believe you are this arrogant, that you have no appreciation for our Military. You are standing here today because of them. But do you respect that? NOPE! You are a complete waste of air and space. Please do us all a favor and kill yourself now.

And furthermore the brave men and women of our Military are there because they are patriots, wanting to serve their country, and make the world a safer place. NOT because of a lacking education. And our Military has a higher education level the the general public, only 75% our the general public have a High School degree, while over 95% of our Military have a High School degree or higher.

I THINK KERRY IS AN ABSOLUTE IDIOT !!!!!He needs to shed is Vietnam way of thinking. During the early 70's judges would give delinquents a chance of staying out of jail, the military.
To days Military is harder to get into...My daughter has a degree in Biology, went into the military and is registered as a Radiology tech. She is also ranked a sniper.
If Kerry does not know the military any better than to joke about it. I would say he was " one of those dumb kids" for he was in the military. BY THE WAY, MY DAUGHTER PASSED WITH ALOT BETTER GRADES THAN KERRY....

Just so you know you have to take the ASVAB test a test to get into the military. So let me ask you this did you have to take a test asking you about every from math to shop? Yea didnt think so. You need to get your facts straight and besides the point its not like you would get off your wimp a*s and fight for our country. You need to get the sand out of your Cl*t and stop crying. John Kerry is a complete idiot and so is anyone else that thinks people in the military are not eduacted. I support and pray for troops.

I was told the same thing in the sixty's about Viet Nam. I did end up there and went on to school after I got home. A lot of people just can't afford to go to college, but that does not mean they are of lesser intelligence.

Whether Kerry is right or not is not the issue. If you were stuck in Iraq would you want John Kerry saying that the only reason you are there is because you didn't study hard enough to get into college? Those people fighting in Iraq chose to go there, or atleast to join the military. Many of them are older, professional people who just happen to be in the reserves and I'm sure many of them went to college long ago. Kerry is an idiot and to watch him try to squirm out of this one is disgraceful.

Well. I'm sure our troops reacted in the best way possible considering the only other alternative would be for them to sink to Kerry's level and insult him back. This way we all get a good laugh. Way to go Troops!!!! You are doing a wonderful job.
