The English language is ignoble, but extremely efficient. If it doesn't have a word, it merely takes it from another language, where as other common languages (Spanish, French) have a Royal Academy that doesn't allow new words' adoption. It is also the language of the two most recently influential countries: first, Britain during the Imperial/colonial era, and now the US.

Because it is an universal language. If you go to every country on earth and ask every one if they speak English, at least one person will say yes. If you were to do the same with say German, French, Spanish, Russian, etc., how many people would say yes? That is the main reason as to why it is so great.
