Sometime I don't get about non-believers of any faith is their lack of hope. So what happens when you die? Well apparently for those people, nothing. I'd feel pretty crappy if I believed that.
With the Big Bang and evolution, don't rule those out. We don't know God's time, and we don't know how old things were when He created them. The universe could have started with a bang, maybe that's what God decided to use. We just don't know, and probably will never know.
I believe one of the Beatitudes says something along the lines of, "Blessed are those who are persecuted in My name" or something close to that. There are going to be people that are going to try to pull you down, and take your relationship with God down with you (they may do this intentionally or unintentionally) but you got to keep on. PLEASE don't feel silly when you pray. Praying is the first step to living a good and holy life.
--You can pray by adoring God and all that He is and does, then by asking forgiveness for all of your sins, move on to praying for the intentions of your friends, relatives, and yourself, and end with more adoration and glory prayer.--
There is a verse in the bible that says: "Do not conform yourselves to this age but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect." Romans 12:2
We're part of the Church Militant, the body that is fighting and seeking God in all of His glory. Now this verse doesn't mean (in my opinion. I'm really not supposed to intrepret text b/c I'm not a bishop) to lock yourself in a closet, never listen to anything or read anything of this age, but it means don't fall into the culture of death that we live in. Sexual promiscuity, drugs/alcohol abuse, abortion, murder, disobedience, blasphemey, don't do these things. Don't conform and change how you act and what you wear based on what's hip and what your friends say.
Conform to CHRIST, be like Christ and His holy mother Mary. Strive everyday to be Christlike, strive everyday to live like Mother Mary or another saint would. Pray to God for guidance and strength, because it is hard! Trust me, I know! Pray to Mary and the Saints, asking them to INTERCEDE (because they have no power of their own. All their wonderful miricasds happened through the power and grace of God) for you, ask them to pray for you and with you.
Once again we all have doubts. Its human nature because we don't have the opportunity like the apostles did to walk around with Christ and be physically with Him. But we do have writings of wonderful saints, a Church with sound doctrine and dogma, and the Eucharist!
So don't feel silly when you pray, though we've all been there. Its hard to conform to Christ. It can be akward, but you get filled with such a peace and joy when you know the Truth. Holiness, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control (all fruits of the Holy Spirit) come to us through God.
We exist because of God's love for us! A lot of people don't realize that God just doesn't love us, but He is IN love with us! We are His creation, created out of love and for love! God is MADLY in love with us, go and embrace our God and be madly in love with Him too.
My prayers are with you,
CatholicGuy

Get information for yourself.
Do some research.
Review your beliefs.
I mean no offense, but it sounds like your beliefs must not be very strong or you wouldn't be questioning your faith over what other people say, even if they are your friends. So figure things out for yourself. There are two possible outcomes: 1) you'll find information that will help strengthen your faith in what you already believe, and you won't have a problem anymore because the things your friends say won't affect you any longer, or 2) you'll find enough information that will help you realize your faith was misplaced, and will find something you can better and more firmly believe in, and you still won't have a problem anymore, because you will have found something you can believe in better than what you have now.
Doing your own research is a win-win situation.
Here's an excellent place to start; it has information about many different religions and religious issues, which the creators of the site explore from all different points of view (so as to create a fair, ultimately non-biased source for religious information of all kinds):

There is nothing wrong with you. You are searching and that is a good thing. Start reading the Bible to be more informed, then you can find some more books in the library, that may help you. It would probably help you too, if you attended church at different religions, you can make up your own mind. No one has the right to tell you what or what not to believe. You are in charge of your life and have to deal with your decisions you make, your friends do not. Be good to yourself, you are a good person ,or you would not think about this issue at all. You can read the bible on line, if you don.t have one. There are different versions, the King James might be to hard to understand at first, so try the more modern versions. God Bless.

1 Thessalonians 5:17
pray continually;
Don' t worry about distractions; we are all susceptible to them. However, that is not an excuse to purposly follow after them. Though it may be hard, ask God to calm your mind and fill you with peace so that you may pray. But not only that, if you want to have true communion with God, then be saved by His grace that you may come humbly and purified before His throne!
Hebrews 4:16 (NIV)
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
You say that you know God exists. It would follow that there is good and evil, and a heaven and a hell. Hell is a place of eternal torment, sufering, and pain. Do you really want to end up there? No! Heaven is a place of eternal joy, peace, and happiness. Sound too good to be true? That is why it is not of this world! But we can't get there on our own; try that and you WILL fail. We are sinners, and God will not spend eternity with unsaved sinners. But because He loves us so much, He provided a simple way for us to be saved!! Through Jesus Christ, we can have eternal life!
John 3:16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Romans 10:9
That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
It doesn't matter how bad you are, or how good you are. Oh, you might say that "I knew that (stealing, lying, lusting, ect.) was wrong when I was doing it!". Was it a sin? Probably. Is God forgiving? Yes. Why do you think Christ Jesus came to die for OUR sins? Do you honestly think He came just for the time you stole a cookie from the cupboard? Though He came for that, He also came for the other sins you committed as well! I urge you to become a Christian and take your faith seriously! As pleasing as this world seems, it is NOTHING compared to the glories of heaven! I hope that this helps, God bless you!

looks like you have many good answers on here. Here's what you do not know. Your friends have this desire running there thought processes. They want to be individual, and be in control of their own destiny. As long as they desire to be separate from God He will let them. In the end this life stance brings loneleness and heartache. Lonely cuz no other person can truly know another, and heartache because everyone you know will let you down at some time and you will let yourself down. This little inside voice who that says "I am king of the hill" leads you to be on that hill all alone. Or it could lead you to the bottom of the hill with everyone all over you trying to fight to get back up top. Either way you are alone. God knows you and excepts you like you are and knows you better than you do and if you ask for His help and guidance through Jesus you will get the comforter which will eliminate the lonelys, help you to see what is true and defuse that king of the hill voice otherwise known as pride.
I'm just guessing either you were not taught this or did not understand it, because if you understood it then you would not have written the question unless you are just playing us. If you are playing us then that that is whats wrong with you.

If you know that God exists stick to it. What have you got to lose? You have everything to gain!
Explain how predicted things have and are happening if there is no God and the second coming of Christ. The world is getting closer to the second coming of Christ..and Satan is working harder to get people not to believe in God. If you have a conscience then there is a God in my opinion. If you feel good when you pray then there is a God. If you look at the earth, the planets, the sky, people, just everything...there is a purpose for it! How could thier not be a God with things that have come to pass....seriously. Let your friends believe what they want to believe....maybe they feel that is a cop out of not being a good person in life....not to believe. Stay strong to your faith!

Sam Understand that your friends can be right about some of the things that they are saying and there can still be a God that loves you very much.
Many of the things that religion says, are just made up to get money and control people, but just because someone tells a lie about God does not mean that God does not exist.
Think about it. If I said that you turned into a bird at midnight and flew around the block. It would not mean that you were not real.
It would just mean that I was a liar who made up a story about you.
Don't ever let anyone make you unsure of Gods love for you. Just because they are unsure of gods love for them does not effect the way God cares for you at all.
God loved the idea of you so much that He created you just the way that you are. God is your dearest friend. Don't let anyone convince you that your dearest friend is not real.
Take care.
Love and blessings Don

If you feel strongly about prayer and the need to communicate with God, I wouldn't let peer pressure stop you. There will always be someone out there that is going to push you in one direction or another, even when it's wrong. Remember, they laughed at Noah too.
Everybody has doubt at times. you're not alone. Prayer helps me and I thank God that I have someone that knows me better than I know myself. I will pray for you that God will help you find what you are searching for.
The Lord be with you.

Please! DON'T let anyone decide for you what you believe! Praying is very good for the heart, mind and soul. It's calming and helps you to clear your mind (like meditation) It is a beautiful practice that has been around for ages!!! You must stand up for youself & for your beliefs. Don't worry about having doubts-that is perfectly NORMAL! You would not be human if you didn't have doubts. I don't know how old you are but as you grow older your beliefs will become stronger & clearer. How will you ever find out unless you pray about it??? God loves YOU! Don't forget that!! (P.S. I will pray for you)

If you disagree with the idea that we have evolved from apes, you must quickly develop your orthograph.
Now whether you pray or not, the sun will shine on us in the mornings, and set down at evenings, and we all have a mother and a father. We know where we come from: a womb... and where we go to : a tomb !
Live and be happy, you will make others happy.
