what would u prefer for long haul flights.. airbus 340 or the boeing 777?

for those of you who have experienced either of them please tell me, and why?

I like both.
It depends on the configuration.
the AA 777 in economy can be a little cramped, and the Singapore 340-500 are awesome, so much room and the service is great.

The Boeing 777, hands down. I have flown on both and I control both types on a daily basis departing internationally from Chicago O'Hare. So in addition to knowing the perks of the interiors, I also am able to see the performance of each aircraft on radar.

The 777 is an all-around much better performing aircraft. It climbs better, flies slightly faster on climbout and to me is a much quieter aircraft. Since most 777's I have been on were using Ge-90 series engines.

Stereotypically, by the time both aircraft reach 75-90 miles from the departure airport, the B777 is usually 7-10K ft higher than the A340.....especially the -300 model.

Don't get me wrong, the A340 will be a comfortable ride regardless, it'll just take your flight significantly longer to reach your cruising altitude.

The Singapore Airlines Airbus 340-500 is the best in its class, because of the 'executive economy' seats and the famous service. The entertainment system is top class as well.

I personally prefer the Airbus. They are both nice planes, but the Airbus has quieter and smoother engines; makes for a bit more pleasant ride. Also, as a "feel good" thing--the Airbus is more fuel efficient, so you're doing a good deed for the environment. :)

The Boeing 777 for me. They have private tv's for all passengers. So you can pick your own programming. That is a big plus for me.
