The other day I meet a couple who had just had their first baby a few weeks ago. They are in there mid 50's. How can this be right? I, as a mom, can understand wanting to have that feeling of becoming a parent. Of giving life to another being. Its incredible...BUT, is it fair to the child that his mom and dad could possibly miss out on beautiful moments...such as the daughter getting married and having her baby. The son getting married. Seeing them graduate college...whatever the moment is. These parents are going to cheat their kids out of som much. Yeah, yeah, yeah the parents while they are alive it will be great and they'll be loved very much I'm sure. But isn't it a little selfish? The child will grow up knowing that their parents could be dead before their life actually really truly begins (as an adult).

I can't see "dying at any given time" being a rational point. If this were the case then we wouldn't do ANYTHING! There is also a BIG difference between being in your 50s and being close to 40. Once you hit 50 your health deteriates alot quicker than the younger folks. Once 60 rears its head health goes down faster. Sure there are exceptions...I'm sure tina turner could run a few laps around me even...but lets be serious. The older we get the more complications will occur.Hey if you want to have a baby at that age thats your perogitive, I'm not telling anyone otherwise...I just think in my oppinion that its dangerous for one thing and unreasonable. If it takes THAT long to concieve (and I'm sure modern medicine plays a sigificant role in alot of these pregnancies...then I think finding alternative options like adopting one of the MANY, MANY babies in our world would be a nice start. And maybe it just wasn't meant to be.
