According to many evolutionists, reptiles are the evolutionary ancestors of birds. They use the fact that scales and feathers have similar chemical makeup to support their argument that scales evolved into feathers. Although there is no fossil evidence of such evolution, they claim that fossils of feather evolution simply have not been located. What argumants would you give to support a Creationist's position that birds did not evolve from reptiles?

There's a lot more evidence than that which ties dinosaurs and birds together.

Chemical makeup is not where the support for the "scales" of the dinosaur evolving into feather comes from. It comes from the fossilized outlines of feathers found surrounding certain fossils.

They share many skeletal features, including the shapes of their hips, a shape only found in dinosaurs and birds.

They shared very similar lung structures, which are a series of air sacs, very different than what we have.

They had four chamber hearts, again, much like birds have.

Certain fossils have been found that suggest some dinosaurs slept like birds, with their heands tucked under their arms.

The use of gizzard stones was common between both species.

This is called convergence. Many different pieces of evidence that come together to support a claim. Is it airtight? Is it absolutely certain that birds evolved from dinosaurs? No. However, even if it isn't true, this is not an either/or choice. It does not mean that a god created them.

Oh, and birds didn't come from pterodactyls. In fact, pterodactyls aren't technically dinosaurs. The closest common ancestor between birds and dinosaurs would have come from the raptors.

It really doesn't matter one way or the other to the overall big picture. Science does (and should) quibble over the details about evolution and this is one of the details there is hot debate over. They would be right when they suggest there is evidence both ways. I personally think the majority of evidence is that they did, but biology isn't my thing.

Rater they did or not the big picture in the fossil record is that things went from simple to more complicated organisms over very long periods of time. There is no serious debate over that basic fact.

birds evolved from other flying creatures, like teradactals i think. but creatures have been evolving for billions of years, so even the slightest changes per 1000 years would have an astonishing change in a million years.

they still have not proven that mutation breeding evolves into different species after endless failed experiments. You are absolutely correct. The day will never come.
