I was seriously curious on this one. When a guy asks a woman to marry him, and goes though all the special steps to do so (like on the comic below) and she says No, is the relationship typically over? I'm sure this has to have happened at least some time in history.

Perhaps she isn't ready. Perhaps she wants greater security or wants the man to mature. It isn't necessarily over, one has to communicate to find out why she said no.

What he thought the relationship was is over, but if the two individuals can make their expectation of the relationship equal, it can continue on the new basis. More often than not, though, it's over. Period. Few have the persistence to re-build a relationship that has just crashed.

depends on the people..the girl sayin no might not be ready to think about or answer the question and they keep going as is until later or the guy might b okay with it...but i think more times than not, it's over sooner or later...

If she says no, then yes it is over. Unless she says something like - oh I love you, but I am not ready for marriage, can we keep on as we are.

I think if she flat says no, move on.

well if she says no, or he says i never wanna get married. it adventually has to end somewhere, unless both party's are ok with an uncommited committed relationship. but if one wants to be married and one doesn't it will end.

some people are just quite comfortable being in an unmarried relationship....Look at Gene Simmons.

no, it could be that she doesn't feel the same you do about your relationship and doesn't know for sure if you're the one she wants to spend the rest of her life with. good luck!

Yup.

If not, it's because she's looking for a 'crazy show of affection'. If she wants that, she's insecure and won't be satisfied. Sorry.
