Not that it really matters all that much to me one way or another. I'll keep answering questions the way that I see fit.

I am a Christian. I believe that Christ is the Son of God and my personal Savior.

BUT I don't believe everything in the bible. Especially in the Old Testament. Adam and Eve? It's just a story used by people thousands of years ago to explain how they came to be. Noah's Ark? There is no possible way they could have gathered up all of the animals on the earth.

And I notice that when I answer questions from people regarding some of these issues, my answer gets rated 'low'.

What are you bible-thumping Christians afraid of? A person with genuine thoughts that actually considers using his brain to answer questions instead of cut/pasting scripture? Heaven forbid that someone use their God-given gift of reason to find out for himself what is the truth NOW, and what was the truth thousands of years ago without the benefits that modern science gives us.

The people that are giving you the low ratings tend to view the bible as the be-all, end-all of their existence, and "god" forbid if its not yours. These are the same people who will support freedom of speech and religion, yet scream and cry persecution when you exercise those rights, but don't agree with them.

Honestly, don't worry about them. You've come to a site that encourages people to show their knowledge and express their beliefs. The thumbs up/down ratings don't have any real bearing on anything here. Sometimes 10 thumbs down are better than 1 thumbs up anyway; controversy is usually a sign that you gave someone something to think about, whether or not they agree with you.

Well, I understand your point, but if they are honest and believe you answer is not a good answer, then that is how they feel. I give a thumbs down on many questions because they are not good as I see it. It has nothing to do with a person's personality, because this is the Internet and we cannot know people form a forum like this.

One way to look at the animals is the bible talks about Noah taking 2 of each kind, and if you understand evolution there is one kind of dog which all other evolved form and one kind of cat and so on and so forth. I am not real knowledgeable in this area, but I have heard others who are explain this.

I see your point, and I understand it.

This forum is poorly designed for dialogue. The only way people have of responding is via the Thumbs Up or Down rating. I wouldn't interpret it as a rejection of you or your thought but an expression of a difference of opinion. If you think it's tough being a non-fundamentalist Christian, try asking and answering with atheistic answers. You'd got so many thumbs down you'd expect a gladiator to shove a javelin into your heart!

I can't speak for why others vote the way they do. I personally do not rate peoples questions/answers. All questions are good to those who ask them and all answers are based on someones opinion, so it shouldn't matter what others think about the question or answer. People expressing their own opinion is what this is all about.

God gave you free will so you can decide to believe or not believe. Personally, I believe that the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God-every word. I believe that God is more than capable of keeping His Word accurate. Concerning Noah and the animals. Do you think he might have had supernatural help from God, for nothing is impossible with God?

Just remember that our human minds are limited, especially concerning things of God. For instance, can our minds truly grasp the fact that God has no beginning and no end? Is our mind capable of truly grasping the concept of eternity? Is space endless? If so, what is on the other side? If not, can we grasp that concept firmly?

"Let no man decieve himself. If any man among you seemeth to be wise in this world, let him become a fool, that he may be wise. For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. " 1 Corinthians 3:18-19

2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration from God, and it is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness"

Also, Jesus himself quoted and referred to scripture from the Old Testament on many different occasions.

Jesus answered Satan by saying "It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God." (Deut 8:3) Matthew 4:4

To the person that said something about not believing about Adam/Eve/Satan........
I ask this question in sincere love, When Jesus was tempted by Satan and Jesus said "Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt Worship the Lord thy God, and Him only shalt thou serve." (Deut 6:13) Matthew 4:10

Do you not believe Jesus that Satan exists? If not, then what do you believe about Jesus?
I know that you don't know me, but I can assure you that Satan is very real. Please ask the Holy Spirit for revelation and understanding on this and do not be decieved. God is Love, but he also is a God of Judgement!

God Bless

Join the club! I get thumbs-downs because many, Christians or not, disagree with my religious views. It doesn't detract from paying my mortgage note so it matters little in the long run.

If you are a Christian haven't you read 2 Timothy 3:16 that reads, "All scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness".

If you do not believe the Bible is true, how do you believe in Jesus? I mean, how do you know God is real, did someone tell you and you accept it?
How do you know which part of the Bible is true and which part is a lie? Is Satan and hell real, and heaven? What about sin?
I think you are what Christians refer to as a "cafeteria Christian". That is, you choose which part you like, kinda like choosing food at a cafeteria. I believe you are seriously confused.

i hope you realize that the bible is up for interpretation....and why are you so defensive? you are defensive that "bible thumpers" are on your case but you are spewing insults right back...and i hope that you really do not look to science for truth. We saw what happens when man blindl relies on science in Mary Shelley's Frankenstein....I will be praying for you...

Because you probably offended someone by saying something they don't believe. I wouldn't worry about it. It happens to us all.
