I've always been more emotionally sensitive than normal about most things in life and it gets in the way of many aspect of my life. To be more normal like the majority, I wonder if there is medication I could take to fix this.

Any suggestions?

i dont uderstand how people instead of look for answers in them self. look for it in medication. being oversensitive ist in my opinon something you need medication for. the term wearing your heart on your sleeve is something half the people in the world deal with one time or another while they are figuring out who they are and where they want to go. take the time and get out to public places i used to sit in the park or the mall and i used to watch people. There action with different emotion and stuff and if you do it long enough you can learn alot. All you have to do is learn is how to control it and come out of the stage little by little. Dont worry about making mistakes or hurting feelings thats how you learn about who you are and your freinds should respect that and if they dont they are not you freinds.

Medication may help, but for true long-term changes, you probably would do better with counselling of some sort, to help you work through the feelings of being overly sensitive and to help you find ways to adapt to your sensitivity so it doesn't impact your life as much as it does now.

I am also very sensitive to many things - I can't even watch murders on tv.

Look at the positives of being sensitive - like the ability to appreciate beauty, nature, wonder, tender scenes & moments.

Every day I ask G-d to direct my thinking & my emotions so that I will become more & more what G-d wants me to be & do.

We need to celebrate our unique qualities & appreciate them - rather than criticize & condemn ourselves for them.

Good luck.

Hi Yevon, its OK to be sensitive. To stop it from getting in ur way, just remember the bigger things in life. What ever might embarrass us isnt going to last, everything ends, so we have to make the most of what time we have. Use ur sensitive nature to help others, its a WIN-WIN situation.
Good Luck.

There are many medications that will help you; however, it will take a psychiatrist to get a prescription. From the way you describe yourself, you really need some counseling, it's best to get the correct help before you blossom into full-blown anxiety or depression.

I understand your problem...Good Luck.

Maybe anti depressants will help. There is also a mental health support movement called Grow which has a 12 step program to help with better thinking. You can check if there is a group in your area.
