Before you swing your punch, do not tense up and tighten up your arm muscles, this does nothing but prevent you from swing as hard as you could. Instead, do this,
This is called putting chi energy force into your punch.
First before swinging, completely relax the muscles in your arm, and just before you start your swing, Breath in deeply, and start movement and feel the force of chi flowing into your entire arm and very quickly tense for action. The speed is going to build tremendously, and for a moment, you will be moving so fast, you will feel like it is in slow motion, and when your punch makes contact with his face, it will be of such a great force as to take your opponent off his feet and he will go flying. Then expel breath in a powerful sound of YA!
Then again completely relax and move like a Bengal tiger as you move in for more Punch's or kicks or what ever your choice is however, your first punch when thrown properly, will knock him unconscious.
May the force be with you,
Darryl S.

I dont know all that much about Martial Arts: but I have a boxing team here (American Martial Arts) - the best workout for heavy or harder punching is work on the heavy bag and punch pads. My heavy weight here (who is pro now)- I had him work on turning or snapping his punch just before contact. In 11 fights now, he has 10 KO's. Good luck my man.

Use heavier gloves, twist from your waist into your punches, roll your shoulders with your punch, (your shoulder should come into line with your cheek - you'll gain an extra hands length on your punch) and as someone said earlier focus on punching through or past the point of contact.. not to stop at the point.. asstd push-ups are good, diamond grip, wide grip, and regular ones.. and just keep practising on the bag..

i don't think it's a matter of what sort of shape you're in, but if you know what to do:
Twist you're hips if you want more power. This will allow your whole body to deliever damage instead of just your fist. Also, exhale sharply when you hit( it has soemthing to do with muscles). Finally, pull the hand you're not punching with back to your belt at the same time to create a reaction that makes the punch stronger.

Rotate your wrist and body into the punch keeping your fist tight and aligned straight with the arm. Hope this helps and good luck.
Also strike to soft vital areas so you don't hurt yourself. Such as the solar plexus (above the abs, below ribs, center of the body).

Feel the punch. visualize that your target is several inches behind the object you're striking. everything everyone else said, plus this: let your body hit for you. this is a very advanced bit of advice. i didnt know what it meant until ihd it happen. i'll try to explain. you can teach yourself through muscle memory to attack automatically. some one will attack you and the next thing you know there onthe ground crying. its pretty cool.

Go to the beach. Submerge yourself halfway in the water and start kicking and punching. Surely, it will improve your power. I've did it..
