with command sponsorship it IS possible to make money while OCONUS. COLA is ausually a nice chunk of change, but you must be careful to balance the conversion rate with your true expenses. Many things are more expensive on the economy.

How well you enjoy it depends on you. If you are ethnocentric, you won't enjoy it it all. Korea's culture is a thousand years older than America's, and it shows. Show respect for the people and their culture, and you will gain their respect and friendship.

Housing is generally substandard to American ideals.Jobs are limited for spouses, and are typically MWR/Non Appropriated Funds jobs(not GS jobs)

Yeah you can go command sponsored. I personally hated it there. I was not allowed to bring my wife. So that had a negative impact. Won't make much more, especially since you will be going with him. Family Seperation pay is the big draw to going there. The COLA rate is really low. One flight usually. I flew straight from Seattle to Osan. But now they fly you to Seoul. Then bus you to where ever you are going. Most jobs dependents have are on base, as off base employment is illegal as per SOFA(status of forces agreement). But lots to see and do, make the most of it!! Had I been able to bring my spouse, probably would have been a lot better.

I'm assuming your partner is in the military. Last I knew your family didn't get to go.
