I like the name Archangel, but I wouldn't use the combination of the two names Angel and Sallie. But it's your dog, and you can do whatever you like. I prefer names for animals that are strange, creative, and unique.
Completely off topic: I have two cats. One is named Dopple and the other is Morgan Rose Ireland Yvette DeWitter . . .hehe(long story).
Here are some I found:
Braith - it is Welsh for black
Adham - is Arabic for black
Cola - old English name and means black
Duff - means black peace
Jett - means black coal
Kiaran - means little black one
Kishan - means the black/blue
And the list goes on . . . go to the site I listed - there are lots of names there. Hope this helps.

Goodness knows how you pronounce some of these (lol) - these all mean dark :
Achlys, Adriana, Adrienne
Or how about Absolute? (as in absolute darkness?)
Absolute Sally? I quite like that actually. Hmm.
I've found some names for angels starting with a ....
Abariel, Achaiah, Afrielle, Amatiel, Ambrielle, Aquarielle, Azraelle
There are black semi precious gemstones:
agate, ammonite & absidian (the actual stone is obsidian I just cheated & changed the o to an a)
Absidian Sally?
Going back to Angel - could you not lengthen it maybe to
Angelic Sallie or Angelface Sallie or Angelpaws Sally?
[Just though of terrible pun - Angel Lick - ugh, perhaps I'd better get some sleep now!]
Hope you find a wonderful name for her ...
--------------------------------------------------------------
a day later ...
was thinking about your Sallie when I went to sleep last night - trying out names that rolled off the tongue when added to Sallie ... just don't feel that Angel is quite long enough.
So, I have two final suggestions:
Angelpallie Sallie
because you like the name angel & she is your pal
Amdoolallie Sallie
which does roll of the tongue & sort of describes that lovable, slighly scatty personality of a gorgeous lab.
----------------------------------------------
PS a Sally Annie was what my grandmother used to call someone who was a member of the Salvation Army

Angel is not dark or black, so why are you going from naming it Angel, to finding an 'A' name meaning dark or black?
Angel is a fine name. So is Sallie.

Angel and Sallie just don't go together well. Sallie Ann would be cute.

Angel is definately a good name for anyone, but the word Angel doesn't seem like it would mean something dark or black. One would think it meant something snow white. If you want a name that would mean something dark or black ,I would suggest the name "MIDNIGHT SALLIE",or "BLACK LACE SALLIE"

I like it. Midnight would be better for a dark dog though or even demon but I can't think of any that start with an "A".
