I have never put banans in the fridge.
They need to get eaten by the time the peel starts turning slightly brown.

THROW THEM OUT when they have fruit flies!
NEXT TIME,
when they begin to turn brown, stick em in the freezer, and bake your mum and dad a banana bread cake
its easy, lots of recipes on the net, and you dont waste the banana...thats in case your dad doesnt eat them.

BY THE WAY,
u can still use ugly brown/black bananas for banana bread/cake its actually the best to use it when its over ripe like that.

It's best not to put them in the fridge, as they taste better that way. She shouldn't buy more than your family can eat at a time, though, to prevent them from rotting. Throw them out--and if, the next time they're in the house, they start turning speckly-brown before anyone can eat them, just make banana bread with them.

Everyone is correct about refrigertion not being helpful for bananas. Banana bread , pudding or smoothies or all good uses for older ones. The little bugs flying around are fruit flies. I don't like them either but they don't bite.

Throw them out and tell your mom stop buying bananas. Buy them weekly and they have to be green. In about a week or two, the bananas should be a HEALTHY color of yellow.

You don't keep bananas in the fridge. They should, however, be thrown out before they are a health hazard or make banana bread.

bananas are best stored in a brown bag, light is the greatest destroyer of bananas, refrigerating them will diminish their taste, in any event, bananas have a very short shelf life, it's best to buy only what you will consume in two days, after that, they turn to sugar(black)
