it has a bitter taste and you see it on meats / chicken livers/gizzerds. it has a name but i forgot what it's called.

The bitter, greenish stuff that you find on chicken livers and gizzards is the bile duct or sac. Bile is a bitter fluid secreted by the liver that aids in digestion. You should ALWAYS remove it from livers or gizzards when you see it.

I think you are talking about the membrane. You see it on organ meats that are not cleaned thoroughly by the packing house or butcher.

It's safe to eat, but not appealing to look at.

I have never in all my life seen green on any meat.


It must be a sauce or seasoning you are talking about.

Sounds like mold to me...I wouldn't eating "anything" that appears on meat...why would you even want to taste it?
