Close enough for what? You say: "you Christians" which sounds like you do not consider yourself one. Are you asking if you may be allowed to apply the moniker: "Christian" to yourself? You will never reach a consensus on that!!!! The wide variety of Christians in this world don't agree on anything!
So let me just tell you that there are plenty of people out there who consider themselves Christians who also believe that every individual gets to define the term "God" for himself or herself. (Fundamentalist Christians are not actually the majority -- they are just very loud!)
Progressive Christians view the bible as metaphorical. Many of these people define the trinity (one of the metaphors for God) as: The Self-evolving Universe, The Self-evolving Human Species, and the Self-evolving code of morality. So, obviously they would happily invite you into the fold!!!
If you just want approval of your definition of God, I say: GREAT!
I am glad you took the time to think about it at all. Seeking wisdom is always a good thing. But as soon as you think you've got the final answer, you become wrong! So keep thinking about it and keep seeking wisdom. Keep discussing with others and evaluating their ideas for yourself. Don't neglect your responsibility to think for yourself!
If you were interested in whether I (a Christian?) would allow you the status of "Christian"... sure, I think anybody, to whom it means enough that they want to call themselves a Christian, gets to call themselves a Christian!

I am sorry. I don't get your exact point. What changes in your life are there after accepting the natural universe as God? Is your life getting better? Are your deeds getting better? And, how can it be close to Christianity?
Christianity talks about worshipping God, believing that by accepting Jesus you will be saved, spreading the good news, going to services at churches, etc. Are all of these close enough to you?

I can't accept the natural universe as God because the natural universe is Finite... However, if god is the Ground of Being, that which within the universe has it's existence, then sure... welcome to the club. Christianity is a fun place to be if you can stand sitting shoulder to shoulder with people who hold radically different views on things... I should warn you before you move in for good though, that it looks like the next 25 years are going to be spent in a domestic dispute with our fundamentalist brothers and sisters who won't be open to your views... but many many many of us are.
you are likely going to get a lot of answers saying "no it;s not good enough, you have to accept jesus into your heart and stuff". Good luck with your search. don't let the fundy's get you down.

Sure, you don't need a religion to feel God, God is in most all things especially natural nature.

Im confused.
Im agnostic. My view could be characterized the same as yours. What I dont get is, why you pointing this to Christians? Only Muslims pose the real threat of death for taking a view such as yours? Right?
Maybe your afraid to point out Muslims because its against PC strictures and it invites death threats from Muslims. Is that it?

Why does it matter what we Christians think? I'd be more worried about what God thinks.
