You are a lovely Lady. I agree with you absolutely.
Anyone who wants a reptile as a pet is stupid.

Just been to a Crocodile farm in Thailand. It was awful......

I think you are making things very simplistic. I too am sad when I see any animal housed in improper conditions, however my snakes are well cared for and well loved pets. Please think before you lump the actions of a few into the generic "people who have reptiles as pets". You seem like a person with a great heart, who could do a lot of good in this world, but you have to work on your phrasing and your zeal or you will just turn people off.

The people who responsibly keep reptiles love them, they are fascinating and beautiful to them. They may keep them in an effort to contribute to breeding programs. Just as an Aviculturist will be responsible in their birdkeeping. The problems arise with those who find reptiles, birds and other exotic pets are a novelty. They keep them for what the animal does for them, not for what they do for the animal. Please don't group all reptile owners into the same bag. I am not a reptile owner but I love them. I am fascinate by them and find them quite cute... especially the shingle back lizard of Australia. I think the people who need your advice are the pet shops that promote impulse buying.

best wishes

Many reptile owners, myself & husband included, own reptiles because we find them very facinating creatures. It has nothing to do with wanting attention...we do not "wear" our pets or take them to public places.

ok i own reptiles and i have owned them for 15yrs and you know i think that they are fascinating animals. have you ever owned one, and until you do you won't know what it is like to own them. they are very good animals to have, that's if you know what you are doing. if you don't know what you are doing then you won't have a good pet.
