We have two boxers: 2 year old female and 4 year old male. We got the famale a few months before the male. The female barks in the male's face when we first come in the house, when they are first let outside and when they are first brought back inside, but other than that she is fine. What may be casuing this and what can we do about it?

Boxers have a tendancy to play rough. My good friends have 3, and they are always playing rough, rolling around on the ground and biting eachother. Most likely she is just trying to show her dominance over him in a non-violent way. If you don't like it, you can put one in while the other's out and then switch them a few times during the day.

there is nothing you should do about it. your female dog is simply showing her dominance over your male dog, and you should allow this kind of behavior if you want to keep harmony between them, because this behavior is reinforcing the ranks between the two dogs.

however, if this barking behavior is bothering you, then you should see an animal trainer or behaviorist who can properly teach your dog not to bark when she comes in the house.

she is trying to be the dominante dog in the house. you need to show her that you are the dominate one in the house and that you need to show her that the male boxer is doninate over her and that she has to be submissive to him.

maybe she does not like the other dog or maybe she just thinks thats her house and not his.

Maybe she does it when she gets excited.
