i asked a question about communicating with an ex boyfriend, as in, i would like to still be considered a friend by him, considering we were once so very close. The answer someone gave was 'get over yourself missus' just wondering if it seemed as though it was an egotistical thing. btw couldnt ask the person directly as they are not open to messaging. see my previous question if you wanted further details.

They were just being sarcastic and this may just be the way that they answer questions. Try not to take such remarks personally. If you want an ex boyfriend for a friend then that is your business after all.

To be honest, and without wishing to be insulting, I think he's right. Your question seemed to put you at the the centre of the universe and gave the impression everyone should feel the way you do - and you're confused why that isn't the case here.

I'm sure you're a nice person, but posting personal questions here is going to attract all sorts of answers and you'd better be prepared for the nasty as well as the nice. You certainly have more guts than I do by laying yourself open to such criticism.

I will tell you why, you seem so concerned about it yet you claim to have no idea why he might not want to talk to you and mention the fact you are happily engaged in the same sentence. Going on what youve said it appears you have only thought about yourself and have not given thought to what he may be feeling. Id imagine he was hurt and maybe he still holds feelings for you but decides to stay away, which in itself takes considerable strength. It might hurt him to much to talk to you knowing what you once had is gone, and he probably could do without hearing you are happily engaged.

I know where your coming from, I'm friends with most of my ex's.
You can't just cut all ties when you were once so close.
I wouldn't bother about the previous answer obviously he has never cared deeply about anyone else.
