at that age, it must be hard. my 3-year-old has almost an identical prescription as mine and would watch tv standing a foot away. he hated his glasses and would hide them from me. once he began to realize he could see he started wearing them more. then i bought the movie "chicken little", who also wears glasses and he related to chicken little and wore his glasses!
but with a 1-year-old, he probably sees them more of a plaything and a way to get a reaction out of you.
another thing that helped me with my son was me not using my contacts and wearing my glasses more. maybe if you wore glasses--even a cheap pair of sunglasses with the lenses out, and showed him how mommie wears her glasses, it might help. or ask your eye doctor, mine wasn't helpful, but maybe your might be!
good luck!

This is the first time I've heard of a child getting glasses younger than I did!
I don't remember it much, but I was prescribed glasses when I was 18 months old. I asked my mom how she got me to wear them. She said it wasn't much of a problem because I was able to see so much better when they were on. She said I might throw them across the room when I got mad, but mostly I wore them.
I'd suggest you don't make a big deal about it when he takes them off. Put them back on a little later. If they really help him, he'll figure it out.

Maybe he thiks they are more like a play toy, he is 13 months and not really able to understand what the glasses are for and that he needs to keep them on.
You could try rewarding him for keeping them on or perhaps buying the bands that hook onto the glasses and go around the childs head.

In my experience, with a child that young, if the glasses are properly fitted and properly prescribed they will leave them on because they will notice an imprvement.
Have a professional make sure everying is adjusted properly. The frame and the rx. If everything is properly fitted ask an optical professional to look for Hico products for securing the glasses on.

My daughter's glasses came equipped with an elastic band. Also just keep telling him to put them back on. My daughter was 14 months when she got her first pair of glasses. We just kept putting them on her when she would take them off and would very sternly tell her "NO" when she would try to take them off. At their ages they don't understand that this isn't a toy, that in order to see they NEED to wear the glasses. Eventually he will figure out the difference, maybe if you allowed him to have them off for a few hours and then put them on he would be able to see the difference himself.

Unassuming Hamelin ready to play superhero
VANCOUVER Maybe it's that his bushy beard and unkempt hair make him look the type of person who seems more at home behind the counter of a coffee shop. Or that he spends his free time reading and drawing Japanese anime. Or that he is painfully shy.

But Charles Hamelin is the first to admit that he doesn't not quite cut the figure of a superhero when wearing nothing but his street clothes.

some optitions stock wrap around frames... they fasten round the back of the beant like swimming goggles. that would probably be the best idea...
or alternatively you could try duct tape! :) just kidding

I doubt he knows he has to keep them on, he doesn't even know what they are. I have no clue how you get a baby to keep glasses on. Sorry!
