Well, I would like to correct HOTTURK about what he knows, Coz I stayed married to a US citizen for 6 yrs and no, u cant bcome a Turkish citizen right away when you get married to a Turk. It must be at least a yrs marriage time to apply for a Turkish citizenship to hold. For your kids. They are but your hubby should inform one of the Turkish Consulates in the U.S. So that, they will have it. For you, you should apply to the Turkish Consulate for that reason as well to ask what to do. But after a process of citizenship you will hold it.
And HOTTURK, FYA, a foreign must get a perminent resident card which is also known as Greencard and after at least 3 yrs to be married to a U.S citizen as the perminent resident of the US, you can apply to bcome a U.S citizen but the requirement is you have to live at least 30 months in the United States of America to get a citizenship test. If you pass that then you swear to God in a court to protect the USA as a citizen of the States then you will be a citizen. Plus, an extra info as well. If you are below 26 yrs old, doesnt matter if you did before or not but you might be conscripted by the U.S Army.

It used to be the case that a foreign (yabanci) national could automatically attain Turkish citizenship on the occasion of their marriage to a Turkish national in Turkey, if they elected to do so at the time of the wedding. Whether that applied if/when the marriage took place elsewhere I don't know. Anyway, the situation is now different. For a marriage in Turkey between a Turk and a yabanci an application for Turkish citizenship has to be submitted and after a few years this will automatically result. If the marriage took place elsewhere, I imagine you have to submit your papers to the Turkish consulate/embassy and wait for the due process. Turkish bureaucracy is truly Byzantine!
As a single person/individual you can also apply for Turkish citizenship, you do not actually need to be married for this. As an American citizen, can you have dual nationality? I understood not. I'm British and am about to apply for Turkish citizenship here in Izmir, but I checked it with the consulate and they positively encouraged me to do it, with no loss of rights as a UK citizen.
PS Why doesn't this question appear in Turkey - open questions? I only stumbled on it by chance, I always check the Turkey topic!!!

I have been married to a Turk for 7 years. Our son (born in Canada) is considered Turk - but I am not. I have to apply, complete a Turkish competency test, and wait for them to say yes.
Apparently when we got married in Kucucekmece I could have gotten the citizenship right there and then, but I didn't know, and since it had been a loooooong day, and I had just gotten married in my ripped jeans and dirty boots, I just wanted to get home to a nice bath. Little did I know!
We have been back in Canada for six years; our son is five. I am looking forward to getting my Turkish citizenship, but I have to go through all the steps, ve turkcem iyi degil simdi.
I don't think that the process is that much different in the US. Good luck with it, call the Turkish embassy - they will steer you in the right direction. We will be making an appointment within the next month for my own application.

Yes, but 9 years is not important, you have been an automatic citizen of Türkiye when u married with a Türk. You and your 3 kids have automatically double passports but I dont know your Turkish husband also have it. Did he do any application to the US govn to be an US citizen? I m not sure but I think after 5 yrs living in the US, its easy to be an US citizen.
Good luck...

Does you husband now have USA citizenship? This might make a difference on the children having duel citizenships, if he is still Turkish. You? You would not have the citizenship. You would need to go there and live, and work to get it-----just as people here need to work to get their citizenship.
