Your Dr. should have told you what this means. When your white blood count is that high, it means your body is trying to fight off some kind of infection/virus. It is very important that you contact your Dr. or a health care provider to find out what is causing the increased white blood count.

WBC count of 27000 is pretty concerning..if you are not on steroids for anything then you really should see a physician..infection is possible the other possiblity is cancer. The differential count on the white cell will help a bit...i.e the percentages of neutrophils, basophils, lymphocytes etc..
good luck

An elevated number of white blood cells is called leukocytosis. This can result from bacterial infections, inflammation, leukemia, trauma, or stress. There are also medications that can increase your white cell count.

It is impossible to give you any more information without knowing a whole lot more about you.

Discuss the test results with your doctor.

Leukemia ! There are many types of Leukemia. Your doctor should refer you to a hematology oncologist for further test. My wife had CML Leukemia and was cured in three months with Gleevick.
A consistently high number of white blood cells is a symptom of Leukemia, a cancer of the blood. A Leukemia patient may have as many as 50 000 white blood cells in a single drop of blood.

White blood corpuscles or count is shortly named as WBC and it is responsible for body defense mechanism. So sometimes u infected by bacterial or viral, then it chances of count to go higher. I think its normal value is 5500, and if it goes to 200,000 then it would consider as leukemia( blood cancer).
