Generally once you have a felony conviction you are prohibited from owning modern firearms. You can apeal to the BATF to have your right to own a gun reinstated.

No, not up to the state you live in, the above answer is wrong, it's federal law a convicted felon cannot own any type of firearm.

Go to the trouble to have your record expunged, contact an attorney where the felony conviction occured and see what they would charge you to go back to court to get it erased. Good luck.

Hello Brian. Unfortunelty there are many people convicted of felonies that don't even have to do with violence such as mail crimes etc. but its the law. Unfortunelty there is absolutley no way you can own ammo or a firearm but you can write a letter for "restoration of rights" google that. Anyway they might be able to get you to vote and such rights but im not sure about the weapons posession. Give it a shot.

you dont need a lawyer for an expungement. write up the motion yourself and take it to the courthouse. pay the filing fee, and wait for the hearing. And there will be a hearing.
until it is removed the answer is no.
but do it yourself for $100. instead of a lawyer for $$$$$$$$

Some states have made it so that you can own a gun after your probation period is over. You need to check with your state to find out if they do this.
