in afghanistan, the WHOLE coalition {US, Britain, Nato, Etc.} has around 50,000 combined. there is violence, but nothing like Iraq.

Iraq: around between 140,000-200,000 troops, iraq looks smaller then afganistan, out of control violence

if we reduced our troop level by 100,000 then there would be less americans on muslim soil {that is a very serious problem, too many americans on muslim soil}. and, if we had FULL peace talks with al-sadr, and the insurgents, we could solve a lot of those problems {many groups have offered to halt attacks if withdrawl plans are made} and we should devote more resources to the Iraqi security forces, instead of more things for our forces, because iraq will defend it's own land someday and they need gear.

what do you think. agree or disagree, let me know if there are certain parts you have opinions about. PLEASE DON'T FLAME ME, this is what i think would help iraq

You make some very good points - and your question is well thought out and written - but I believe the theory that terrorists can be dealt with successfully using diplomacy, negotiation or reasonable dialog was pretty much discounted when President Carter tried these policies during the Iranian hostage crisis.

Before reasonable dialog can take place, reasonable people must be involved. We are dealing with Islamic radicals - people who would cut your head off just to make another video.

I do agree that more priority must be placed on training and equipping the Iraqi security forces to try and shorten the time needed to get them in position to take over the peace keeping tasks and routing out the terrorists now performed by American troops.

Ultimately, the Iraqi people will either stand up and fight for their freedoms and rights, or all of the humanitarian and military aid we can muster will be in vane - regardless of our strategy in this war.

I was having a similar thought about Iraq. If the foreign none Islamic Forces left the country or at least became less visible would it take some of the heat off the country. The forces would have to be available to handle difficult areas as needed. I am sure this is being given some thought. Hopefully some way to deal with the rebellion in Iraq will appear so everyone can go home and leave the Iraqis to rebuild thier lives.

I respectfully disagree. Iraq has more violence because there is Syria and Iran pumping funds and people to counter the United States efforts. We are doing good in my opinion even though we have lost some troops. I have lost a good friend in Iraq and I hope his death will not be disgraced by the Untied States running away when things get a little hard. The radical Islamic Muslims know that if they break our will here in America then we will loose the war.
Keep your will and remember that all wars are bloody and we knew what we were getting into when we signed the dotted line. AIRBORNE

I think you are on the right track. Reducing the troop levels would reduce all the tension that currently fuels the insurgency/terrorists and combine that with letting the Iraqi Shiites/Kurds take more responsibility in securing their own country (they hate the insurgents/terrorists as much as the US does but they actually know the difference between a Iraqi civilian and an insurgent/terrorist) and the war could be over in a year with almost no US causalities. Yes, it would be a civil war but they are doing that right now anyway and the vast majority Iraqi Shiite and Kurds could easily destroy the insurgency/terrorists. All US troop are doing now is getting in the way.

I think we just "stay the course" that will be the solution
in the future. Democrats want us to send more troops
over, is that the answer? You said too many Americans
on muslim soil now. Terrorists are waiting for the election
over here to be over, as if Democrats win, they'll get our
troops out and then terrorists can easily just take over Iraq.
We lose, Iraq loses so is that the best solution?

Good lets negotiate with the men who orchestrated the attacks that killed our soldiers. Good f'ning plan! Maybe we can have a sit down with Osama too. Talk it out over tea. Then we could go to Darfur and help out the poor muslims there. Oh, but wait, they are in a civil war too.

I firmly believe America should get out of Iraq. Let the people in those countries take care of their own. But that is so hard when you see the starving, hurt , children suffering. If we pulled out troops out, I think we would have PEACE. Get out of there. Let them do their own thing,. But they blame us for everything. Bite the hand, is what I say. Continue to help with the RED CROSS, by supplying food, meds, and help, but get our troops out. Let only the RED CROSS stay !

I agree. And if all those troops were moved into Afghanistan for a fixed period of, say, 6 months, they could work wonders in rooting out the taleban.

Put Saddam Hussien back, he can control Iran from there, never mind his killings, there are more Iraqi deaths without him.

The whole islamic middle eastwill have one common fear, him and will think less of bombing, kidnapping and beheading westerners......

Then wait for your president to invent anotherexcuse to invade Iraq again....
