Charter jets charge by the flight hour. You have to have very deep pockets to lease one.

If you want to go non-stop 3800 nm, you'll need to charter a Challenger 604, a Falcon 900, or perhaps a Gulfstream 400. These types will most likely go for $4500 to $5500 per hour. They range in speed from 460 to 475 knots.

To quote from the CNN article...
"A company called OneSky Jet Network (www.onesky.com) is helping more travelers take advantage of those empty planes -- sometimes saving customers up to 50 percent between top markets. A small jet from Los Angeles to Aspen in May, for example, will cost about $8,000 each way through most charter brokers, but OneSky says it can offer the same plane for $5,900. If your days are flexible, the price could drop to $3,600."
Most places want to quote for a specific flight, so they don't give examples. My ex used to arrange corporate travel and it's nowhere near as expensive as you might expext. That price above, for example, if you had eight or ten people you could find yourself paying $12k for ten tickets if you booked at the wrong time. For the golf and rugby weekends she used to organize for UK gaming industry customers that is less than nothing.

It depends on the type of jet and type of service you are looking for. If your looking for the cheapest charter we can probably do $400 per mile, you would have to pay for gas. We can pick you up from your home if you live on earth.
