How many people feel that driving In this country Is a privledge and not a right. Plus I think you should not get a drivers license until your 21, and I think that when you reach a certain age, you should be retested every two years. Any opinions,Intelligent ones that Is.

The age of majority is 18, and I don't see a problem with a license before that age, especially now that states are getting on board with restricted license up until age 18. As far as retesting, why punish the good drivers for a few bad ones? I think 2 moving violations in any 12 month period should be grounds for retesting, both written and on the road testing. And I don't mean retesting when your license expires, I mean if you have 2 moving violations that are minor, or one that is major (DWI, injury accident) you should be called in to test. If you don't pass, you lose the license.

That way you would get the bad drivers off the road without much inconvenience to the good ones.

I think that driving is a right AND a priviledge. As a teenager, I'm looking forwards to getting my license. Not because I want to be able to go party whenever I want or something, but because my parent's aren't home during the day, and they can't bring me places for extracurricular activities or they can't bring me home after after-school activities. I have been unable to join clubs that I wanted to because I didn't have a ride home.

However, I do agree that everyone should get retested every 2 years. That is a great idea, seeing the increasing number of accidents that are occuring every year.

there is no reason to make a person wait until 21 ESPECIALLY sice you can be on your own at 18. i think 16 is a perfectly acceptable age. (i am 24 and got mine at 17)
i do agree that you should be occasionally retested though.
i think it should be random retesting...not just the driving part but the written exam also

I totally agree with you . Far too many 18 yr olds driving and way too recklessly . I wish some of these ninny parents who buy their kids these fancy sports cars could see the way they drive them when they are not around. It really ticks me off.good luck and god bless.
