hmmm. wel lthat all depends on wether you see satan as a diety. according to the mythology satan isnt as powerful as god. yet interestingly the mythology also says satan can do many magical things, tuening into other people, making people do things, invading their bodies. if anything it seems that satan has more powers than god. apaprently god has the omniscience, omnipotence and omnipresence down but can he transform his figure and invade peoples bodies?
apaprently not.
i think this question raises another similar queston....are christians monotheists? they also beleive in satan...satan seems to be close to if not as powerful as god...
logically it seems christians (and satanists) are not monotheists...polytheists perhaps.

No they're atheists
Well, there are probably a few actual devil worshippers, but most don't believe in satan any more than more than the pope believes in the flying spaghetti monster
Its an odd sort of belief, essentially they 'worship' (respect) the ideal that the biblical satan represents, i.e. thinking for yourself, acting for youre own ends, the cardinal sin of satanism is stupidity. In the words of the founder of the church of satan, its a religion of indulgence not abstinance. Yes it does contain rituals and 'magic', but these are because people need rituals, and that any magic that is done is really just a placebo effect of you altering your mental state, kinda hard to explain.

Satanists are exactly the same as run of the mill Christians in there belief system they just "worship" at the the wrong end. They worship Satan as Christians worship god or Jesus or Santa clause or who ever. They have to believe in god to believe in Satan. They have to believe everything in the bible and still worship the devil, lots of people just say they are satanists to be cool but they obviously don't have a clue.

As a matter of fact, I'm good friends with a lady who did some resesarch for the Palo Alto Police Department (in Palo Alto, CA) on Satanic cults. There are a variety of REAL Satanic cults out there and they have a range of beliefs.
The Church of Satan was founded by Anton Levay as a money making scheme. They are mostly law abiding (their rational is not an ethical one, but rather a practical one - they think breaking the law is stupid, because you'll probably go to prison) and have a philosophy similar to that of Ayn Rand. Anton Levay was an atheist. They also charge lots of money for membership and see making as much money as possible as being a Satanic ideal.
It's offshoot, the Temple of Set, was founded as a more theistic organization and was not so much of a money making scheme. Its founder (whose name escapes me, but who was a high up in the Church of Satan) believes that Satan is a real Divinity and equates him with his particular conception of Set (an Egyptian Deity). They apparently also have an Ayn Rand style philosophy and believe in social Darwinism and also believe in trying to make lots of money and gain lots of power, but they seem to see Satan or Set worship as a means to strengthen their ability to get that and also seem to genuinely want people to be able to join up without charging them a lot.
My friend also found some much more disturbing groups that worship Satan and really do practice really, really nasty things. (All the stuff that you probably imagine Satanists practicing.)
Finally, she found a group that equates Satan with Prometheus, the Greek Titan who gave fire to humanity and believe that Satan is good and Jehovah is evil and believe that Satan is a God who gives us the good things that the "evil" Jehovah is trying to keep from us. They therefore try to be good themselves by avoiding harm to others.
Personally, I think that all except the last group are fairly nasty people. Even the Temple of Set people believe in doing whatever is best for their own personal survival at the expense of others.
I'll note that, while fundamentalists will tell you that everyone who's not a member of their fundamentalist cult is a Satanist, the vast majority of religious people are just good religious people who worship whatever concept of Divinity they have as opposed to worshipping Satan. Satan is a Judeo-Christian concept that is absent from non-Judeo-Christian religions and isn't even all that prevelant in Judaism. For example, Wiccans are anything BUT Satanists. They worship their own Deity or Deities (depending on the tradition) as opposed to Satan.

No. If I understand it correctly, they believe that Lucifer/Satan is the rightful god, that God was unfair and Lucifer is the rightful one to worship. Therefore, there is more than one god, but only one should rightfully be followed. This goes against one definition for monotheism: "The doctrine or belief that there is only one God."
I have heard that Freemasons at the highest levels worship Lucifer. On the surface they worship God or Allah, or whatever is the local religion, but really Lucifer is their god. Some conspiracy sites seem to have reasonable arguments that this is their belief.

Satanists are a bad example to our society. Even a toddler has more sense than them. Look what desperation can lead to!

I guess not. To believe in the devil means you must also believe in God. As Bart simpson put it: How the hell can you not talk about hell if you cant say the word hell?

Not exactly. Although they give homage to Satan, he is not God. It takes a deity to make a theism.
