Refrigeration delays the ripening process. You can do so for a couple of days with an unripe one.....but if your fruit is overripe it will only get mushy and stringy.
Conversely, to ripen an avocado, put it in a paper bag at room temperature for a couple of days.

Refirgerating avacados does keep them fresher longer. Also to keep them from getting all brown keep the pit on the avacado. (cut slices around it) This also keep guacamole from getting brown too.

yes you can but sprinkle lemon or lime juice on the green stuff if it is cut to keep it from turning brown.
