It seems to me (from my own experience) Christianity is about LOVE. Yet I see so many people here on this site who claim to be Christian, and are judgemental, superior, angry, condemning, and preachy. And so many people answer questions about spiritual issues with accusations by saying only a Satan worshipper, or evil person would think that way. If you want to influence people regarding GOD, why not try to be more humane and kind about things. Seeing angry and aggressive people claiming to have 'the answer' because they subscribe to a Christian doctrine, quoting text - chapter and verse - to angrily prove a point is counter productive, in my opinion. Being Christian does not make one intellectually, morally, or societally superior, and it is offensive to see people act like they believe it does.
It also doesn't appear to be very Christian.
And, please don't preach at me. I don't want your rhetoric stuffed down my adult, and perfectly human gullet. Please show respect in answering.

I don't even read accusing answers, so don't bother to send them.
Notice I did not reveal whether I was Christian, Pagan, Buddhist, Space Alien, Athiest, or whatever.
Please do not accuse me of being demonic again. That is hurtful, uncalled for, and extremely selfishly juvenile.

I do not believe it is acceptable for anyone to use their spiritual beliefs as an excuse to bash someone on the head, or be nasty.
If it is your belief you 'have to' do something, that is your right. But do not assume to tell me I 'have to' do what you say is mandated by your belief.

There are a good many people who have assumed I am not Christian.
Why do you assume you know who I am and what I believe without having gotten to know me?

Anger comes from fear usually, but many people who call themselves Christian aren't, just like with Islam or any other religion, these people don't truly understand the belief system they follow.

Agreed.

I was harrassed by a Christian Guy on here who sent me about 100 emails over 10 days about how I was a devil worshipper, and a daughter of the devil. He was saying that I should repent or burn eternally in hell, and also that I should just end my life as it must be so empty without the happiness and joy of 'God's Love'.

Yes, I am Atheist, and no, I don't discriminate against religious people. Everyone has their right to faith. But this hurt me beyond belief. I didn't say anything nasty to provoke it. All I said was that everyone had different opinions and that he shouldn't preach (Which he was doing).

All I ask is that I respect religious people, all I want is to be respected back.

I'am not angry either, I luv you, no one's perfect in this world, that includes us Christians, what we do have is compassion, some Christians just don't know how to express it in the right way. Also people are constantly slamming Christianity. I'am sure you agree that that's obvious. After all the name calling and attacking questions. Out of frustration a Christian might not react with the wisest choice of words. Since we know we are not perfect that's why we have a Savior, Jesus. Hope that helps out, lol

I know exactly what you mean. Religion used to be such a personal thing, but the world is changing, not for the better either. I used to be amazed at the number of questions relating to religion on this site. I didn't know so many people had such opinions. They all think they're particular religion is the right one, which is perfectly fine, but we don't need to be abused by them. I usually skip over those questions. You're right, religion used to be about loving our fellow man, caring about others etc. Somewhere along the line something has seriously gone wrong. Amen.

I believe you're talking about the preachy types who have forgotten one of the most important lessons of Christianity 101 - humility and respect for other human beings with different belief systems.

I personally have nothing against Christians since I do have friends who are Christians, Jews and even Buddhists. But I really do take offense to "Christians" insulting a religion and its followers. That makes me mad.

for those of us who are truly trying to follow Christ we realize we can not make anyone come to Christ;that's something one must do on their own.we dare not judge anyone for the word of God says judge and ye shall be judged,it would be like condemning oneself.trusting in our Lord and savior means showing love no matter what, the word of God says we can have a righto us anger, but it would have to be over something truly horrible.like a child christian grow;as we become closer to Gods ways which means the way He would have us to be.i pray that this is the beginning of a clearer understanding of what we're suppose to be about and i wish above all things that He en lights you and gives you not mans peace but Gods peace which is above and beyond mans understanding. God bless

I always see questions like this. But the odd thing is that I actually never notice the christians being the only intolerant religion on here, like every one else seems to. Most of the intolerant angry q&a's are from atheists that ive seen.

I'm a Christian, and I try my best NOT to do this. I don't want anyone else telling me that I do things wrong or should do them a certain way. Frankly, what people do is none of my business unless it is against the law. I'm actually for women having the chance to choose on abortion and gay marriage. If you think it is wrong to abort a child, don't tell them they can't, love them so much they know they won't be treated any differently when they are a single mom. If you think marriage is and has always been the way it is defined in our country. YOU ARE WRONG! In past times, marriage has been with multiple wives, predetermined spouses, etc. We aren't ruining something that has been the same for millions of years. By the way, I'm a straight, young, Christian, white male.

amen

now please allow me to speak freely.
You are absolutely right, God IS about love - and we as Christians are about sharing the love of Christ - however we are also not suppose to sit back, relax and enjoy watching everyone else wallow in their own.... well you get the picture.
It's true that everyone has a choice, it's also true that God loves everyone. I've seen hundreds of questions and answers posed on this forum that are insulting to both Christians and humanists / atheists / non-believers.
Remember none of us are perfect. But we do try - I pray and study and listen, and I will not sit idly by and play some stupid gushy love song about live and let live - because there truly is a war going on, and I want to be in the thick of it - not for my glory or gratification, but because Jesus asks me to.
Peace and blessings to you.

Obviously they are not happy in general. A happy person doesn't feel the need to angrily prove their point.I also noticed that they believe that they are morally superior to everyone else.
Most of them are insecure as well, this is why they resort to accusations of people being evil or Satan worshipers.
It seems to me that they are missing something in their life, but Christianity does not fulfill that need for inner peace.
