it depends
and the punishment is for BOTH not just the woman like non Muslims here say.
and there has to be 4 adult witnesses to the incident. not just some BS claim.

The punishment is the same for both men and women:
Married: Stoning to death
Un married: 100 lashes
There are conditiones required to apply the above punishment:
1.Complete sexual intercourse not merely kissing or hugging.
2.Proof: a.The admission of the adulter.
b.Four just honest witnesses saw the act including intercourse"not less than four even if the judge himself was one of them"
c.Now it can be proved by semen analysis and DNA studies.
3.If the adulter escaped "after admission" no body should follow him/her to bring him back as this counts as if he denied what he admitted. Like what happened in the prophet's time.
4.If a woman came pregnant she must wait until giving birth and another two years for weaning the child. Like what the prophet pbuh did.
I hope I made some help.

Under Islamic law, the legislator made practically impossible to prove claim of adultery. If the culprit does not confess, four witnesses '"who saw the act of penetration" are to be produced. Since people normally hide to commit such act, it is impossible to provide evidence. In normal conditions, actual punishments for adultery should be rare, if not non-existent. Some countries, like Saudi Arabia, are exploiting the thing to further their political agenda.

In Saudi Arabia, if you are convicted of adultery and found guilty; you're basically tortured. Usually they stone you, dig you up into a hole and cover your head with a small cloth and stone you. Not very pleasant, in order to show an example to the people.
O and by the way, Saudi Arabia is not a real muslim country like you stated; a real muslim country would be a country based on complete and true Sharia (Islamic Law). Unfortunately, no countries that follow complete Sharia exist.
Hope i Helped!
Good Luck

mido & Chevalier deserve the 10 points.
It's very important to notice that the punishment is the same for both men & women. Married: stoned to death, unmarried: 100 lashes.
But before excuting the punishment, there must be 4 witnesses of "penetration". And as said by Chevalier, this condition makes it almost impossible to prove claim of adultery as it's impossible for people to have intercourse infront of 4 witnesses, especially that it's against their law.

if you were married or still married then its death,if not its 100 whip
for the ignorant who said men nothing and womed death
both women and men are the same punishmed
but u must have four witness to do that
and that means if u do that in secret u will have no punishment

If found guilty as judged by the court, the punishment in the most extreme case is death.
Allah does not hate sex. Sex is a right belonging only to the husband and wife.

Adultery is the most serious of crimes. If the guilty party is married, he or she is sentenced to death by stoning, beheading, or shooting. Stoning is the usual method of punishment. Proof of this crime must be established by confession or by four witnesses to the act.
