I hear voices when I am writing in my room deep into the night. I can inconspicuously slip into another room without waking anyone, but it still scares me. I hear people coughing, and once a mother arguing with a daughter involving groceries! When I get out of my room, my heart is racing and I am panting as if I just ran miles in seconds--all from fright. speaking to my mother is the only way I can get to a psycologist and that is simply out of the question...talking to her will only make me feel self-consious and different. thats bad. I was thinking that maybe these voices are all from my sub consiouness but they are definately not in my head. I HEAR them, not think them. I can determine what area of my room that they're coming from but when I look nothing is there...help, someone?

Honey, you don't say how old you are but I am assuming under 18. Can you talk to a teacher or counselor at school if you can't talk to your mom? There are some illnesses that can cause you to hear voices and there is medication that can make them go away. Please, don't be afraid to talk to someone. It's important that you get this taken care. Good luck, sweetie, I'm thinking of you!

You may be under a lot of stress, or it could be Schizophrenia (or some other mental thing). I'm sorry to say it but you DO need to tell someone and seek help and therapy. You cannot go on like this.
I know it's hard, but you could be making it worse by waiting.
I know it may be embarassing, but if you don't want to talk to your mom about it, talk to someone you feel comfortable talking to, is it a friend's mom? A teacher, school counselor? A crisis line even (be anonymous).
Why don't you just look up a therapist and call them yourself? They could schedule an appt. you make it there yourself and then let them eventually tell your parents! If you know what kind of insurance your parents have then the better!
Do you have a regular family doctor? Go make an appt there without your mom present. But reality is that your mom needs to know. You can work on the self-conscious part later.

If you are still in High School go to the guidance office and tell your counselor. If not call your doctor's office and make an appointment. Look in the phone book to see if there are emergency mental health services. A doctor can help you if you tell them what is going on with you. It would be bad to let this go.

You're probably scared that people will tell you that you're making it up or going crazy but you shouldn't be. If this is really stressing you out you should talk to your guidance counselor at school, or your family doctor.

try talking to a school counselor....or finding a free mental health clinic.... most states have them.....
you would have to be 18 to go on your own though to a free clinic......or have parental consent......
your need for help should outweigh any embarrassment you might feel..... hearing voices is a common symptom of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder..... but only a psychiatrist can make that diagnosis...... you need to be on meds that will stop these voices......
good luck!
try talking to your mom...you might be surprised at how understanding she is.....

Not to be funny or anything but do you think it is a possibility that they are spirits of the dead? If you believe in that stuff.

listen hon...im sure there are alot people out there who disagree with me on this too...but ive seen them...dont know if ive ever heard them tho...but at a young age i saw them...you have a gift...without getting all nutty on you...you should ask God the meaning of your gift...and if you choose to listen to Him, then you have nothing to fear...it is a gift..

you gotta go tell your parents. They will help you and are responsible for you. You don't have to suffer this way. Ask her to let you see a psychiatrist.
