place the mouthpiece in boiling water for at least one minute (some require longer, but that's the general rule) take it out and immediately bite down hard into it, making sure that it contours and shapes to your teeth and gums.

you can reboil it, but I don't reccommend doing it because it can weaken the mouthpiece's ability to absorb the shock of a strike. there is also one that is a full mouthpiece that protects the top and bottom teeth and the Jaw from strikes called the WIPPS jaw joint protector. ($19.99 @ awma.com)

if you feel like you're choking, you may need to trim the back ends of the mouthpiece to fit better.

a) Dip the mouthpiece in boiling water for approximately 12 seconds with a spoon.

b) Remove the mouthpiece from the water and air cool it for 4 to 5 seconds.

c) Place mouthpiece in mouth around top teeth and bite down firmly.

d) Use your finger to press the mouthpiece to mold it to the contour of the upper teeth.

If the mouthpiece does not fit properly, repeat steps a) thru steps c) again.

If the mouthpiece is too big, trim it with sharp scissors.

Hope this helps!!!

Boil the mouthpiece until it is soft. Since it is fitted by placing it in the mouth, it doesn't have to get too hot, just until it softens a little. Pick it up with tongs and then when it is cool enough to place in the mouth, put it on the upper teeth and bite down. This will set an indention (mold). * If you boil it too long or too hot, it will get distorted. A mouthpiece does not have to be perfect, but a better fit, means better protection.

I have been in the martial arts for 28 years and i will be glad to answer your question. First boil the water then drop the mouthpiece in carefully the water will be hot, wait 1 to 3 minutes depending on how thick. If you are just cleaning it take it out with tongs and let it dry. If your boiling it to allow it to mold and fit your mouth better boil it for 3 minutes take it out and as soon as its cool enough to comfortably put in your mouth put it in and suck it too your teeth and gently bite down. After that you might have to do it again. If it has a plastic piece in the center leave it in when forming it to your mouth. Good luck on your journey in the martial arts.

Bring a pot of water to a boil, and have a glass of cold water ready. Put the mouthpiece in the boiling water for 30 seconds, dip the mouthpiece in the cold water then put it in your mouth and bite down (Also try to suck it to the top row of your teeth if that makes sense). Bite down for about 30 seconds it will be a little hot but it shouldnt burn you at all, then put it in the cold water until it is cool (10-30 seconds) and bam-o your done.

I wore that kind of mouthpiece for years, playing football and lacrosse. I never used to boil them. I would turn the hot water on in the sink, and just hold the mouthpiece under the HOT (steaming) water. When it started to soften, I switched the water to cold for a second, and put it in my mouth and bit down.

Boil for about 3 min. Then, while it is soft, bite down hard so that the rubber takes the shape of your teeth. Keep biting down for about a couple of minutes so that the mouthpiece dries to the shape of your teeth. Take it out of your mouth, let it cool down, and now you are ready to get the crap beat out of you. Just kidding.

if you have the brand name of the mouthpiece, search the directions online (preferably the company's instructions, but usally, any time will work). Boil for fifteen secondss, rinse under water for for same time, and bite down straight onto it, not too hard cuz some places might get too thin. search online!!

dude its not hard.... the only reason to boil it is if it wasnt yours to begin with... in that case boil the sucker for 5 minutes... other than that... boil water, then let it sit for a few minutes, while the water is still HOT put the mouth piece in for 2 minutes, once its very flexible put it in your mouth and close your mouth, DONT CHOMP ON IT... you want it relaxed as you will be when you are fighting.
