If this is "sauce for meat" but doesn't actually contain meat - eg: apple sauce - then perhaps several days.
If you mean a sauce containing meat then:
Beef / Game: upto a full week should be safe
Lamb: 3 days
Chicken/other foul/Pork/offal: 1 day
If in doubt then 1 day will be safe assuming it was edible to begin with!

There are a couple of serious variables here. How cold is your fridge, for starters. Health departments in most US cities like 'em no warmer than 38 degrees. Make sure yours is that cold. Did you bring your sauce to a good rolling boil, skim the nasty scum off the top, and then cool it rapidly in an ice water bath (preferably with the pot sitting on a couple of rails so that cold water could circulate under the pot). Did you stir while it cooled. If you've got satisfactory answers so far, you can count on at least a week in your fridge. And if you bring the sauce to a rolling boil every five days, and re-chill it in a freshly cleaned vessel, this could go on indefinitely. One of the bonuses of a meat sauce is that you should have a nice coat of fat on top that creates a virtually hermetic seal. When properly chilled, the fat will solidify into a near perfect seal. If you didn't give nice answers to all my questions, figure three days and then toss it. In the biz we say "When in doubt, throw it out!"

Never take a chance with tomato based sauces. Three days, and only if you put it in the fridge to cool quickly and didn't leave it sitting on the counter.
Never store it in the can it came in, if it did.
