I'm 14 (15 on March 1, '07) I went to an orthodontist today and I got spacers. I was wondering if I should continue with the braces or get a car?.
My teeth are too severe for invisilign braces so that should tell you how bad my teeth are and I have to have an artificial tooth and a .mm size spring between 2 teeth put in with my braces (if i continue with them).

Get the braces! Your smile is the first thing that everyone sees, it affects how you feel about yourself so much. Cars come and go, you'll have plenty of time to own a few. But getting braces at your age is the best thing you can do for yourself now. I'm 38 and it's much nicer to have gotten my braces at 14 than some people who have them at 40!

Absolutely get braces!! It is hard right now to decide because the car is way more exciting, but braces will be 10x more worth your while. It will help you get boyfriends, be more confident, look pretty because you can smile with confidence without a hand blocking your smile. If you think you can do braces latter it is so much harder because you will be past the stage where is normal to get braces at your age you might be able to get them off at 16. Also remember braces fix the appearance of your teeth quite quickly although you need them on much longer to keep your teeth in the position. One other thing out of many others is that in the future it will help you get a job. Appearance is very important.

Braces! Insurance is covered for kids, but when you get to be an adult they don't cover you as well! Trust me, I've had braces at 13 and now at 31!

A car, oh you will get that soon enough and your whole life! Braces are only once. Braces, braces, braces!

You are too young for a car. I don't know if I will let my daughter drive until she's 17 or 18. There is no need for it if I drive her places then she's fine. Don't try to grow up too fast by getting a car trust me they cost a lot of money (maintenence, oil changes, air filter changes, new brakes, insurance (for teens is super high), gas, new tires, parking tickets, fines, car washes, etc.).

Why is this a question? You answered your own question. You should be thinking about nothing but driving a set of braces not a car. Teeth are always the 1st thing that people notice on someone else outside of general shape of their body.

If your parents know what is important, they will chose the braces for you. If you have the spacers, then the decision has already been made. You can get a car when you start driving in a couple years.

well how bad do you want the car? It depends on you, obviously you have a problem with the way your teeth look. Me personally I probably would take the care but on the other hand do your peers at school tease you? you can always save for a car. maybe you should get your teeth fixed work a job and save for a car.

I don't see the connection between braces and cars but aside from that, get the braces.

Braces. You'll crash the car soon because you're young (no offense, but it happens!) Braces are cheaper, and you're almost about to the the braces.

I can answer that. I got spacers today also, you may as well go with the braces now that you have got this far. How's yours feeling?
