For everyone's information, Cilantro and oregeno are NOT spices. They're herbs.

Spices are ground up seeds, pods, etc.

Herbs are from the leaves, dried or fresh.

But everyone's right about what kind of spices and herbs go well wtih Mexican foods.

chili powder is good. I'll also give you a good little tip, sweet things can really complement the heat of your spice. Good luck

Cumin is number one. Chili powder, coriander, cinnamon.

(Regarding an above answer, cilantro and oregano are not spices)
(PS: Anything that is a leaf is an HERB. Spices are roots, bark, and seeds )

fresh cilantro is always really great, especially if you are using tomato. As far as drieds go, I'd say cumin, chili powder, cayenne pepper, black pepper, and cinnamon.
