My guess is that your hamstrings (the back of your thighs) and maybe your calf muscles are tight. If these two muscles are not flexible, then yes, you will feel slight pain, discomfort and soreness when doing yoga.

However, if it is a sharp pain that is immediately felt and will not go away, then there is a possibility of a muscle tear.

If the pain subsides after a day or two, you are just experiencing soreness. If this is the case, then yes, will frequent practice you will be able to lengthen these leg muscles and the pain should go away. It is normal to experience a certain degree of pain when first attempting yoga poses, but in the long term if they do not go away you are either doing the poses wrong or you have injured yourself.

Make sure you take it easy on some days, to give your legs a chance to rest and recover.

In any case, always remember to respect your body's limitations and not too push too hard when doing yoga.

Namaste.

it really that your muscles are being stretched, it might take a while for your legs to adapt to the movements of yoga, but they are telling you that they are there and most likely might need a rest here and there, if you feel like it's burning start to stop slowly and rest a bit while resting try and keep a slow movement if that doesn't work your better off rubbing a Lil bit and try to talk slow and stead walking around in a square or some shape you want to "walk off the pain"....
