A senior citizen out in the country near where I live was discovered laying next to a horse stall in his horse barn. Apparently the horse kicked him in the groin. He was transported to hospital but died some time later from heart failure.
I have to ask, can a shot to the male groin result in unconciousness or death? What is the actual cause of this, extreme pain/ shock or a nerve reflex???? I mean the testes are not vital organs, why should this happen

It 'can' happen, but it's very unlikely. It's mostly due to the pain.

Simply put if it happened it can happen. The trauma to the muscle and bone at the groin area is the same as to e.g. a leg, the blood clot, toxins from the crush injury reach the heart and posion the system, shock and death follow. The testes are so sensative to make the owner protect them hence the species can procreate.

Some people, it doesn't work on. Some people won't feel it if there is adrenaline going through them. I remember one time I was sparring without a cup and I got hit squarely in the nuts and totally ignored it. But, I have also gotten hit by four year old kids and it hurt a lot.

Maybe if you had a low tolerance for pain you could pass out, but the old man probably had some broken bones, which is much more painful, and internal bleeding where he died from blood loss.

The anser is yes. Pain & shock are certainly factors, but it is more complex than that & more complex than I can go into here. The short answer is that the blow overstimulates the parasympathetic nervous system.

well one... that was an old man! Technically anything can happen. I have been NAILED in the junk before and all it did was **** me off... that's why I DO NOT teach that in my self defense class... it doesn't always work on people....
You could rupture a testicle I guess, or depress one into your abdomen... but its HIGHLY unlikely.
