The ceramic tile in my home is white. The grout was originally white but throughout the years it has become a dirty grey although it is clean. The walls are eggshell, baseboard, cabinets, tables, etc are oak.

Does anyone have any suggestions. I don't want anything real drastice in the event I ever want to sell the house.

This sounds like a job for Kahlua cream this color goes well with oak and eggshell by the way I do not advise using any detergents on tile floors the best thing to clean tile floors with is vinegar/water mix one half cup vinegar to each gallon of water. Also 2 weeks after grouting to prevent discoloring use Sealers Choice sealer this stuff literally repels liquids if properly applied.

Pastel colors what color is the toilet, tub or shower ? Egg shell is a sheen finish what color are the walls? Add a nice border wall paper or witha level mark lightly with a pencil with the level and make your own and then go a little darker with the paint accent! Also if you what too use a color that accents your nic-nacs something! Add a floral wall hung basket! add some color!!! BUT stay away from yellows and golds! Light pastel green, blue, coral colors are nice and sell well too! Clean up VERY WELL polishing the tiles and you MUST SEAL the new grout I'd do at least 2 coats! Hope this helps!

You have 2 options with white tile...either use white grout and keep it nice and bright with bleach (and yes, it will look dirty when it needs a good cleaning) or use a gray grout that will just look dirty regardless of whether it is or not.

I'd opt for the white grout...

I'd stick with white. Be sure to put a good finish over the grout for easier cleaning.

When I grout the bathrooms of the hotels I work in we generally stick with gray. White looks great; for about a week, then it is a pain in the butt to keep that way. Gray will look good, it is muted and nice, and it will not look dirty.

match the grout to the eggshell walls. being off white it will help hide dirt in the future over true white

Have you bleached it? My white grout bleaches back to white really well. And I will say our house is 30 years old.

I would use a neutral off white or slightly beige to cover the stains.

Try using a heavy grout cleaner or something like Lime Away and see if they don't turn white again.

Otherwise, use black or white.
