Contact your local or state dental association and and see if there are any dentists who provide free or reduced cost care for low-income, disabled or senior patients.

Call your local health department and ask about health centers that provide dental care for free or on a sliding scale.

Your local United Way may also be aware of such a clinic. In some areas, you can reach them now by dialing 2-1-1 for "non-emergency information."

Go to a dental school, if there is one near you, for reduced costs.

Check http://www.toothwoman.net to see if low-cost or free dental services are available near you.

Check http://bphc.hrsa.gov and choose "Find a Health Center" to see if there is a low-cost clinic near you.

finding an university that is in your area is a great way to go. It is where dental students do the work so it takes a little longer, but is much cheaper and the quality is excellent because the students are grader and must do an excellent job. The other options include applying for medical assistance/dental. There are some communities that dentist will do a weekend a month or year that will see patients as a free clinic.-as RDA

You can try social services to see if there is any help for dental work although there isn't any to my knowledge. Only congressman and higher get free dental work at tax payer expense.

You might also check to see if there are any dental schools in your area. They usually work at a discount, but there might be a long waiting list.

I had the same problem. What I did was contact the dentist of my choice. I paid $50.00 a month which was what I could afford until I had half paid of what it would cost to have my teeth fixed. The dentist then knew I was serious and did the work. I am now paying the other half on the same monthly basis.

You might try getting out the yellow pages and calling every dentist in town to see if they would do the work either on a pro-bono (no charge) basis or possibly extend you credit.

If you have no luck finding a local dentist who will help, you might try finding a nearby university with a dental college. Such institutions will often use charity patients to train their dental students. The care received at these places is often better than standard care since all students are carefully supervised and monitored by ADA trained and qualified dentists.

Hope this info helps, and that your son finds the care he needs and deserves.

No dental insurance or no medical insurance either? If it was really bad, a trip to the ER would be in order where they would use medical insurance to help him with his teeth but that would only be a temporary fix.

Here in WA state we have Seamar clinics (free dental clinics) for low income people. Do you have something similiar? A community clinic, etc? You may have to do some digging around. We also have some programs through WIC and the hospitals that do check ups on children for free if you are on medical with the state.

So my question is...are you low income, and do you get medical from the state? (or welfare, foodstamps, etc)? If you do, you can call the caseworker or office near you and ask them where your child can get dental care. Even if you don't get welfare, I would call them (your local Department of Social and Health Services) but it's called something different in each state and just ask where you can get dental care.

If you are DESPERATE. I would go as far as calling YOUR church and asking them to help you out. Most churches I know WOULD! Or call all the churches in the area and tell them your plight (my sister has done it when she had no food and many churches stepped up to the plate!). Call the Salvation Army (locally) may know of a program. Or a local "resources" place in the area (look in your phonebook, or internet).

Also you can try: a local university. We have UW (University of Washington) They have students learning to be teachers and do their work for free/or discounted! Call your local college! Or look it up online! I got my wisdom teeth taken out at age 22 from UW hospital/dental and I didn't get a bill!

Another thing you can do: Is call all the orthodontists/dentists in the area and ask if they do pro-bono type of work or have payment plans or sliding scales. Tell them you are broke! You never know!

There are some dental schools that will do work for very little or free. Look for dental schools in your area. Even if you have to drive a few hours it will save a ton of $$$ and it sounds like you really need it.

I would call your local board of social services and also check with local hospital for a dental clinic number for low income. Most of those just pull the teeth though no caps or other work. Good Luck!

I'm not from Ohio, so I don't know how far you are from this place. I'm sending you the link, if they are too far away maybe they can help you find some services that are closer to you. Many communities have low cost dental programs.

Most states have this service for children. Call your local Congressman's office and I feel certain they will steer you in the right direction. Please do not delay. No child should suffer due to lack of money.

Maybe if you take him to an emergency room they will call in a dentist. Hospital E.R.'s cannot turn you away.
