Is this really what HD looks like? Or have they just tuned it in badly? Because it is so sharp it's all distorted and far far too vibrant, just hurts my eyes and the colour is all too bright too.

Yea, it's funny. The idiot sales people don't have a clue on how to drive those TVs to get a good HD quality picture.

Take note, there is only one video source which trickles down to all the televisions on display which may explain the subpar picture quality. Or maybe the floor models were put in service immediately without the proper audio/video setup. (Not a good way to put the better foot forward and entice the buyers)

some places dont hook up an HD source to their HDTVs.. thus resulting in the nasty looking picture.. but recently my local best buy installed their TVs with a HD source and it looks amazing.. =d.. Circuit Cities had it better first.

Because they are not set properly and run for 12 to 16 hours a day.

because if you have 20 odd tvs off 1 antenna it weakens the signal
